Surgeon general post is a big job for a big lady

Quote:
Since President Obama announced his pick for the nation’s Top Doc, Internet message boards have been atwitter with the observation that Dr. Regina Benjamin is fat.

Critics seem to believe it’s ironic that the nation’s top doctor would be overweight, and it’s led the most nattering of nags to conclude that she should not be picked for prom queen, er, I mean, surgeon general.
You would think the entire population of the blogosphere had suddenly reverted to the seventh grade.

“I refuse to let fat be socially acceptable … The President should have known better and picked a doctor who could kick start the debate on fat not perpetuate it,” commented one reader on a national news site.

Another has some mighty specific requirements for the post: “Rather than select a fat Black woman Obama should have chose a Black woman with a body mass index of 25 or less.”
Opinion: Top doc post is a big job for a big lady - Breaking Bioethics- msnbc.com

Obama choosing an big woman to be the Surgeon General is no different from him picking a tax cheat to run the IRS. She can lose weight and build or rebuild a reputation. Timmy will never erase the fact that he cheated on his taxes. Another smooth move, Barry!

"I am not saying we give an inch on the war on blubber. Obesity is an epidemic in the U.S. and growing quickly around the globe."

Yet another thing for Obama and his lackeys to apologize to the world for: exporting fatness.

Certainly our obesity "epidemic" is contributing to the myth of global warming through our greatly increased flatilence.

Dang! She's more than a little overweight.

And take a look at these comments in this article:

She said she would combat preventable diseases. Her father died with diabetes and high blood pressure, her only brother of HIV. Her mother died of lung cancer because as a girl "she wanted to smoke just like her twin brother," an uncle now on oxygen.

"I cannot change my family's past. I can be a voice in the movement to improve our nation's health care and our nation's health," Benjamin said.

About her size. So? I know a lot more people that are her size than I do of skinny little rails. I'm just glad the gov't can't go after our eating habits now (right?!)

Her qualifications meant nothing to zerO. Picking her made a statement. And that statement is, "I don't know what the F*** I'm doing, but I can do F***ing anything I want! And you can't stop me!"

She is a people person, humanitarian, doesn't have a political agenda, and not from chicago. Also her track record is impressive and I'm pretty sure she paid her taxes!!! I'd give her a thumbsup vote!
