WH Enlists Supporters’ Help on Health Care Smears

"You may recall that during the campaign, the Obama operation unveiled an effort called “Fight the Smears,” which systematically debunked the viral lies that were being told about Obama via email chains and elsewhere on line.

Now the White House is doing the same thing with health care falsehoods. The first effort targets, what else, a Drudge-hyped fib (yawn) and concludes:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

The enlistment of supporters for help combating lies and smears is a nice touch, a pain-free way of giving them a stake in the battle. There’s going to be a lot of work to do this month, and I hear the White House and/or the DNC will be unveiling more along these lines soon."
