Hello Fred.

Since you have most people on "iggy" I would like to hear your views on health care.

I feel that health care is in need for reform. There are many ideas on the table; such as Public Option, Single Payer and 3rd Party elemination.

Public Option-Government health care as an option, plus whatever health care you choose goes with you. You will be covered no matter what.

Single Payer- Government run health care (no commercial option); everyone covered...period (most countries that have this charge in a hefty income tax to cover this....way more than the US)

3rd Party elimination (my favorite-thanks to Larry) Your employer doesn't provide you the insurance, you have to go out and get it. The money you use out of your paycheck for insurance is tax free. The health insurance company is forced to compete for you instead of the corporation. This will drive the price down for the consumer and offer better care.

Which one are you a fan of and why.

We should copy the French System.

What exactly needs to be reformed, dude?

I'm for a single payer system modeled after the French System.

Are you talking about the public health insurance option proposed in H. R. 3200. If so, it doesn't involve government provided health care. It involves government provided heath insurance.

In H. R. 3200, those reforms apply to more that just the public insurance option.

Huh?

Single payer means one payer, not one provider. That would be "single provider", such as is the case with the VA Health Care System.

everyone covered...period (most countries that have this charge in a hefty income tax to cover this....way more than the US) France spends half of what we do per person on health care, and still has the best system in the world. The French are much smarter than us, and we'll never be number 1. But if we try real hard, we might be able to move up a few places.

How do you propose we force health insurance companies to compete, dude?

That all depends on the rules of the game, dude. What are the rules going to be for this forced competition you envision?

Because, I believe health care insurance should be part of the commons.
