| Dillon Radigan just lost me... This guy has impressed me with his new show; honest broker, challenges both sides, has strong opinions, thought out positions and arguments, doesn't let too much non sense slide.
I was liking him.
Well, he just ripped his GOP guest on the issue of lack of productive ideas from the GOP when the GOP guest pointed out that it doesn't matter because the GOP simply does not have the votes.
Radigan actually said, angrily, "I don't care about the votes!" All you guys wanna do is defeat the president!
Cold slap to my face.
He went on to argue that all sorts of Dems are persuadable, that we're supposed to be Americans, not just the parties, etc, etc.
Then his Dem guest chimed in along the same lines.
Finally, the GOP guy got mad and said "The American people spoke and you guys (To Dem guest) won and you won large majorities in both Houses and the fact of the matter is you're just mad you can't get anything done and you wanna blame it on us. That's non sense."
Now, I've heard this line of argument before; the votes don't matter. How someone voted in the past doesn't matter.
I'm sorry but, that is just as ####ed up as it gets. What is the point of having elections if votes don't matter? How do you judge a candidate if NOT on their record? Why not have some other form of government if votes don't matter? Maybe a dictatorship? Votes don't matter to dictators.
It is the height of moral cowardice and intellectual bankruptcy to NOT only NOT hold people responsible for their votes BUT to then argue to vote for this person or that person based on how THEY will vote!
Radigan just went down, big time, in my book. "I don't care about the votes." |
