I do, too! That's bi-partisan agreement!

George W. Bush is to be commended for his wonderful work in Africa. He can be credited for saving one million lives with his AIDS project. I was also impressed in the manner he handled the shoe throwing incident. I thought his handling of the matter very presidential.

This was supposed to be a fun and easy exercise and.......I must say I am quite disappointed. Of the 23 direct replies only 7 people had anything descent to say. Of those eight only two were progressives and 6 conservative.

The rest were very close...but then a backhanded comment was included which pretty much voided any good part of the comment, while others were too busy worrying what others were or weren't saying.

What struck me the most were the people who didn't respond. The only progressives I know that are here on a regular basis is Nono and FredFlash. This is an admittedly conservative board, so I don't know if those low numbers are reflective of that.

But, I wonder if the lack of response has to do with the hardened attitudes of all sides. Are we so angry and caught up that we can no longer find or saying anything descent about opposing views and parties? If so, what does that say about us?

Perhaps it would educational to the conservatives to have you give us your mark-up of which posts you considered responsive, which were back-handed, which were conservative, and which progressive. Mostly, I'd like to know why you did not respond with a comment until the end.

I got this hair brain idea from an article I had read about a guy who had done this exact same thing during the calming days of the Presidential election. The talk was ugly then too and he wondered if the country was so divided that it was impossible for the opposing sides to see any good in the other. So, he posed the same questions and polled.

I didn't respond until the end because that is what the guy in the article did. He didn't want to influence answers one way or another. I don't think it would have mattered, but I followed his logic and waited twenty four hours.

What was considered conservative answers were those that made a comment about someone obviously not conservative. Of the comments I liked the best....Ylexot and Larry Gude were the top winners in my book. Other comments that I considered good, were Toxick, Homesick, This Person, Lenny and Libby. And their was Camily who was a progressive comment that was good.

I am on the fence about Bann's comment. Although it was a nice comment, it did not directly say anything about an individual. I was going to make a nice comment about Palin and her baby, but opted out thinking that commenting on children would just be an easy way out. I thought something directly on the person would be more of an effort, so I picked Bush. But that is just my opinion and the article didn't address comments like this. They were all directly about the political figure.

BCP started out with a nice comment about Clinton, but I voided him out because he ended with being insulting to Obama at the end of it. Had he just said I think Bill Clinton a better president than Obama and left it alone, then it would have counted. I think he knows it wasn't genuine himself. He came to his own defense before this post with a breakdown even came up. So, I think if he is honest....he knows....

I would think the backhanded comments were obvious. There is nothing nice in saying Barney Franks smells like Crisco or liking what Ted Kennedy has to say lately. There was nothing nice about that and just another backhanded insult.

And of course those that only commented or attacked others or were too busy speculating on a conspiracy of why I was or wasn't commenting weren't included at all. I think they are self explanatory.

I hope that is fair enough for you.
