Leave Afghanistan, and it is leaving the keys in the ignition.
Please call Larry in about 2 hours about this post, he should be on the 8th or 9th hole, he will welcome the distraction.

To help, let's take this in stages.

1. Do you happen to recall the Bush Doctrine?

Which one?

(Edit to add that evidently, typing "Bush doctrine" triggers the contextual ad for Sarah Palin)

So, how do we go after al Qaeda? Or do we even bother anymore since too many people have lost their resolve.

You mean "if someone is coming to kill you, rise against him and kill him first. However, it should never be done with glee"?

We are in A'stan and we've foiled how many attacks the last 8 years?

Ok, I may have a foggy brain today due to my sinuses killing me, but is this a trick question?

That's what I'm thinking. Because they have access (or had, in her case) to a lot more Intel info than we do. And Condi, in particular, was chosen for her expertise in that stuff for the NSA,(did I get the acronym right?) and then for SOS.

She's an expert/scholar in that area, Larry.

I don't think people have lost resolve. I just don't think people think we are getting anywhere in what we are doing. Al Qaeda isn't a country that can be pin pointed and attacked. They are all over the place.

I am by no means a military strategist...but I do wonder if A'stan is where we want to be anymore. While this is where they were after 9/11 and was their base of operation, does it hold true anymore? The operatives did flee. Where are they now?

Iraq was said to be where Al Qaeda sent their minions for military training. Is A'stan the same? Are we just putting up the costs of an elaborate training ground? Is Osama in Somalia? Saudi Arabia? Who are the other leaders? Where are they? Should we be doing a covert operation rather than a full out war on a country in which these individuals are in? What about the other countries they are in? Do we bomb them too? Are we just spinning our wheels?

There are a lot of questions that aren't so clear cut for many people anymore and fatigue has set in too. Seven years plus of war and no end in sight or even a glimmer of hope.

If for one minute the people thought that staying A'stan for another year or two would definitely wipe Al Qaeda......they would be all for staying. We are spinning our wheels...no?
