Dictators are born through stupid, weak, lazy people. They latch on to the cult of personality, thinking it makes them look cool to be a joiner, yet they have no real idea of what's going on in the world, or what their hero is really doing.

There are all these books - Glenn Beck has one, so does Ann Coulter - about debating Leftist talking points. The problem is getting your opponent to engage. Try talking a fundamentalist Christian out of believing in God. Try talking some young girl out of being "in love" with the BMOC. Talking to them and trying to take them down the logic trail is a colossal waste of time because they *want* to believe.

You can say to Maobama worshipers, "What exactly has he done that's so great for our country?" And you will get back some mishmash about how *all* politicians are corrupt, or some vaguery like, "This country needed change..."

It's like Nonno and FredFlash on these forums - and we all know how frustrating and futile it is to respond to them and try to give them a history or civics lesson. Try explaining to JPC that NCPs should be financially responsible for their children. Might as well try to teach pigs to sing.

There's not really a whole lot you *can* do about worshipers and fanatics. Refute them, but don't expect to get anywhere with it. Unless you want to kidnap all of them and force them into a deprogramming rehab, like they did with the Moonies and other cultists.

Remember, please, that the Jonestown cultists actually killed themselves at the direction of their leader. I'm not sure if you get any more faithful than that, and it's an excellent example of just how deep into it people can get when they *want* to believe. Maobama inspires that same sort of fanaticism.

That's the one I like from the Obamites. "Well, we needed a change." And you are absolutely correct. Logic will not move these people from their beliefs no matter what.
