There are all these books - Glenn Beck has one, so does Ann Coulter - about debating Leftist talking points. The problem is getting your opponent to engage. Try talking a fundamentalist Christian out of believing in God. Try talking some young girl out of being "in love" with the BMOC. Talking to them and trying to take them down the logic trail is a colossal waste of time because they *want* to believe.

You can say to Maobama worshipers, "What exactly has he done that's so great for our country?" And you will get back some mishmash about how *all* politicians are corrupt, or some vaguery like, "This country needed change..."

It's like Nonno and FredFlash on these forums - and we all know how frustrating and futile it is to respond to them and try to give them a history or civics lesson. Try explaining to JPC that NCPs should be financially responsible for their children. Might as well try to teach pigs to sing.

Isn't that the truth!

I think it will be any time now. Seems like what he's headed for.

So, I wonder when the fools we elected in Congress will tire of His Excellency-in-His-Own-Mind taking up more than his fair share of the balance of power?

(Or at least trying to weasel his way into getting more than his fair share?)

No, I didn't. As bad as we are all conditioned to think of Carter, fact of the matter is he didn't spend much, didn't grow government much and didn't leave us stuck in bad wars.

He was no awesome potus by any other measure than those three. He just wasn't terrible. And those three are good ones to not be bad at.

Interesting you just made a post about people who simply want to believe a given thing and how futile it is to even engage them.

Look at the economy. Look at what happened with oil. Look at Iraq and A'stan. Look at stocks and home prices. Look at the expansion of government. Expansion of entitlements. Bailing out GM. TARP. Look at national debt.

Pick an issue, any one you like, from 2001 to end of 2008.

Go ahead and explain how W isn't even in FDR and LBJ's league.

Or is it your mind that is made up and that's that?

You agreeing with that assessment or just saying some people think that?

What's your criteria for "Worst" president ever?

Stunning.
He's feeding those who view him that way. Cult of personality.

Yeah, because I'm such a huge Bush fan. Rah. Rah.

You act like history began the day Bush was inaugurated, and I know you know better than that.
