43 Troops Have Died Since McChrystal's Report

Quote:
Another American died in Afghanistan on Wednesday, the final day of September--and exactly one month after the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan sent a confidential war assessment to the Obama administration, warning that more forces are needed--soon.

The as-yet-unnamed American serviceman who died on Wednesday was caught in a suicide attack in Khost Province, in eastern Afghanistan, press reports said.

On August 30, Gen. Stanley McChrystal sent Defense Secretary Robert Gates a war assessment in which he said more U.S. troops--and a new U.S. strategy--are needed if the U.S. is to defeat the insurgents in Afghanistan.

Since that Aug. 30 date, a total of 43 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines have died in a war that is now the subject of much discussion--and apparently some confusion--in Washington. Forty-two of those casualties have been identified by name in U.S. Defense Department press releases (see below), while the 43rd casualty, which occurred today, has been confirmed in press reports, but not by name.

The Messiah needs to come home and do some WORK. This is the 'good' war he advocated. Let loose the hounds of war, get the job done, and get our folks back home, Neuman!

The shame is that 43 more may die before this clown we have as CIC can make up his mind what to do.

Say what you want about George Bush, he had the courage to make decisions.
You can argue all day about the decisions, but he made them , and he stood behind them..

It's a shame that the previous commander in chief put us into this unfortunate situation to begin with. Being a former member of the military I know the cost that this war has had on me and my friends and family. It is important to take this time to re-evaluate the situation, and not just throw 100k more troops in there to die. We are fighting an ideology, not bruit force. I don't think we should bash this new president for being cautious before ordering your son, daughter, or family member to go into war and potentially pay the ultimate price for our country. If your life were on the line, you would want someone to think long and hard about sending you to war. PS.... Even if he would have ordered new troops to go to war, the 43 young men and women probably would have still died. It takes time for those new troops to get into country, and you can't blame those 43 deaths on the fact that the president hasn't ordered troop levels up yet. I think this represents a change in what we have seen previously. A leader not just launching thousands of troops into war to die, but someone who is weighing the pros and cons, and re-evaluating the mission. PS.... I am a republican, and a veteran.

And PS.... The decisions that Bush made has cost our country 2 wars (1 of which is unfounded), a recesion, debt, and lack of standing around the world... You can have all the courage in the world, but if the decisions you make helped to ruin our country, I would rather have someone with less courage and better decision making skills.

Nothing like using our war dead to enable you to continue your spiteful bashing of our President. What a loser you have become.

Which one was unfounded?

And why?

Which branch of the military were you in?

And what would you consider BETTER decision making? Someone that actually MAKES a decision, or someone that wants to take their time and think about it as more Americans die?

Reminds me of Somalia where the ground commanders were asking for Armor.. They asked time and time again.. "We need tanks, we need Bradleys' Only to be told, we'll think about it and get back to you.. Nope, wouldn't be politically prudent, we don't want to look like the aggressor.. and how many lives did THAT cost us??

It's not bashing if it's true.. Kind of like "Swift Boating"..

The President himself said.. "I'll have to think about it" Well, for how long? Are we going to measure your comtemplation time in days, or lives lost??

He has professionals advising him for a reason, the PROFESSIONAL gave his opinion, and told him what he needed..

Maybe after he gets done in Copenhagen he can take a few minutes out between TV Appearance to maybe think about our young men and women in harms way..

Good thing they have that good government health care everyone talks about, maybe that's why he's not concerned..

Doesn't matter who broke it. The Messiah said he would fix it. Well, the lucky ones are still waiting. The unlucky ones are still dying.

Yeah, "Swiftboating is American political jargon that is used as a strong pejorative description of some kind of attack that the speaker considers unfair or untrue—for example, an ad hominem attack or a smear campaign."

Please show me where Kerry proved ONE thing the Swiftboaters were saying was untrue please..

The Democrats have made it into what it is today. Using the truth and his own actions against him isn't a bad thing, unless your target is a democrat.. then it's a "smear campaign".
