Anyway, I'm with them for the most part, and most of what they promote makes perfect sense. BUT. Then they'll go off on some stupid tangent like the following:

A woman in the UK was jailed for her failure to comply with an order that she stop being so loud when having sex:

The Libertarian take on this is that it's outrageous for someone to be penalized for enjoying sex.
Disturbing the Peace - Reason Magazine

Clearly that's not the point; the point is that she was disturbing the peace and pretty much forcing everyone in her neighborhood to listen to her sex screams. And people are within their rights to not have to listen to someone get laid, and it's not someone's right to scream so loud the whole neighborhood hears them.

So there you go, Libertarians. That's why I hesitate to join your gang - because you're crazy and your desire for freedom interferes with the rights of others.
Their reasoning is bad and it bothers me that they would do this. Yes, individual Rights should be defended, but they know damn well that interfering with other's individual Rights is where the crux of the matter lies. Hers are no more important than others.

Ugh.

I'm with you VRAIL. Libertarian ideology is exactly what I believe, but the LIBERTARIAN organization doesn't seem to be able to define a bright line between libertarianism and anarchy.

I believe the REASON that the organized Libertarians can't get it together is that they are really infiltrated by frustrated anarchists. When they clean out their camp, I'll join.

So, if loud sex is now yet another issue for the government to be invloved in, what's next for the dred Anti Social Behavior Order?

Grilling? Cutting the grass? Stereo a bit loud? Late night parties? Smoking because it may burn your house down and then mine? Ugly siding?

I don't believe for one second that this could not have been peacefully and amicably resolved with the neighbors. I do believe that some, a few, maybe only one of the neighbors have HUGE sticks up their ass and were more than happy to get the authorities involved so that their wishes could be imposed instead of the messy, inconvenient business of finding a way to get along with the neighbors. I mean, why bother when you can have the cops deal with it?

You (we) people hate the major parties because of the hash they make of the major issues and tend to like the libertarians on the major issues. However, the libertarians are 'kooks' on a few issues and not to be trusted...over the GOP and the Democrats?

The house is worth 1/2 what was paid for it, we're still dependent on foreign oil, environmental nuts want YOU to stop living. We're stuck in two foreign pseudo wars. Some 15% of us or more can't find work. The dollar is an international joke. Illegal immigrants are about to be magic wand-ed into citizenship and uncle Sam is about to be your doctor as well as community cop, car dealer, banker, insurance broker and sporting event promoter.

At least we don't have to listen to each other ####.

Priorities and perspective.
