Do Not Blame Barack

AMERICAN THINKER column
by Selwyn Duke

Quote:
Contrary to what my title indicates, I probably judge Barack Obama more harshly than most reading this page. I don't think he is just a misguided ideologue or merely a creature of expediency. I believe, practically speaking, he is an evil man. That is to say, while he is largely ignorant like so many others, he has developed an affinity for evil. He mistakes it for good.

Yet, to be blunt, Obama doesn't alarm me as much as the average American. To explain why, I'll present something Roman philosopher and statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero said 2000 years ago when lamenting Julius Caesar's rise to dictator:

Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and gave him triumphal processions . . . . Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the 'new, wonderful good society' which shall now be Rome's, interpreted to mean 'more money, more ease, more security, more living fatly at the expense of the industrious.' Julius was always an ambitious villain, but he is only one man.

Barack Obama is only one man. A bad man, yes, but he is a symptom more than a cause. Without millions of fawning Americans, he would just be a community agitator, vainly preaching Alinsky principles from a soapbox. Of course, he is a symptom that exacerbates the underlying problem, and symptomatic treatment -- to ease immediate pain and hardship -- is certainly in order. But it is only the worst of physicians who focuses only on symptoms while ignoring the cancer eating away at the patient's midst.

American Thinker: Do Not Blame Barack

See? It is not just zerO's fault - the millions that voted for him are just as liable for whatever he does to this great nation.

It's a crap piece of writing.

Obama, it is all too obvious what he is. That is not noteworthy and certainly not news. Social Security, The Great Society, nothing new there, either. One point of note there is that it is a normal thing for people to not want to lose the socialism they have, existing benefits, and also not want new socialism that threatens what they have. Duke makes the same assumption so many on the left do; it is, somehow, inconsistent and unfair to oppose new socialism when you want and defend old socialism.

Duke leaves a gaping, glaring whole in his tripe; the last eight years. It is true, from Ancient Rome to today that the people, what we will tolerate are, at core, the problem but, why is that?

We want to BELIEVE in our leaders. People are protesting and angry now because George Bush, whose name does not once appear in an article about the ills of his immediate successor, failed us all. So, his supporters, those who trusted that he MUST know what is going on are sure as hell not going to be comfortable with a leader, Obama, who has long held the beliefs of the left, beliefs that are at odds with what Bush was SUPPOSED to be doing; governing from the right.

Yeah, we are the problem. We're going to continue to be the problem unless and until we, the people, know what the hell we are doing. Credit is due to lose on the left who are angrily trying to hold Obama to account; they wanted a leftist, he is a leftist and now they want it to mean something. We, on the right, would have served ourselves, and the nation, better had we done more to hold our side to account.

Upon further reflection, Duke's piece is perfect; no one around here wants to deal with the failure of the last 8 years either. Obama just magically appeared and it CAN'T be our fault.

I think this quote from Cicero has some merit here.

People at the end of President Bush's presidency people were screaming for change and not the woman in the Man suit. He was everything that they wanted. a Democrat who was well spoken and made them feel good about what he was going to do, Let's face it John McCain only lost because people thought it was going to be 4 more years of Bush.

The quote fits perfectly. The situations are similar, Both men thought it was all about them. They both wanted to change the Government that was very drastic.

With all that said Wow history does repeat itself. Now if someone can look up if Obama and Caesar have similar meanings... Just kidding about the last part.

I don't think he WAS what we wanted. He only told us that HE was what we wanted and HE was believed. Bait and switch.

Who cares? Obama's present has successfully made me forget all about his past. Even if we find out that he was abducted by aliens and sent back to earth to destroy civilization, so what? How does that knowledge change a single thing about what he's doing?

Larry blames Bush; I blame the media. Had they done their job and exposed this person instead of covering up for him and making excuses, The One would still be some junior Senator harmlessly voting "present".

They polished up McCain as well, because he never should have gotten the Republican nomination. Then as soon as he won the nomination, suddenly he was portrayed as evil incarnate.

And Sarah Palin, the only person on a ballot in the general election who was worth a crap and had the interests of America at the center of her concern, was ripped to shreds and made to look like an idiot cheerleader.

The media shapes our opinions, and they failed miserably in providing factual and unbiased coverage of the candidates. Without them, Obama would have never been elected.

At the bottom of the article, I found these words:

"The Illinois State Archives told Judicial Watch that they never received any request from Senator Obama to archive any records in his possession."

"In 2007, Obama told Tim Russert that his records were "not kept."

"And there's less on the web every day. In time, the entire Obama body of knowledge will consist of 3 documents -- "Dreams From My Father" -- "The Audacity of Hope" -- and the latest -- "Change We Can Believe In" -- all written by Barack Hussein Obama or his "ghost-writers."

Just an accident? I don't think so.

Obama has lived for almost 50 years without leaving any footprints -- none!

There is no Obama documentation -- no bona fides -- no paper trail -- nothing.
  1. "Being a "Birther" is not about the birth certificate. The birth certificate isn't the answer. It's a symbol for all the other stuff that's just not there. You wouldn't hire with a guy with this CV to mow your lawn. Obama's complete disregard for the reasonable expectations of the American people to know who and what their leaders, are created Birthers -- and Obama can make them go away -- in a heartbeat.
  2. Obama -- release your bona fides. The American People have a right to know who you are, and who sent you.

You are 100%correct. What I meant by that was The Country wanted change and he promised the world to us all and here we are; has anything changed? Where will we be in three years from now? The same place, I hope not, but I won't hold my breath.
