Chicago pols blame Bush for Olympics loss

Quote:
Makes sense. What better way for the international community to express its contempt for Bush’s policies than by … publicly humiliating the guy who got elected by repudiating him?“There must be” resentment against America, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, near the stage where he had hoped to give a victory speech in Daley Center Plaza. “The way we [refused to sign] the Kyoto Treaty, we misled the world into Iraq. The world had a very bad taste in its mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America and about Americans. That’s why I thought the president’s going was the deal-maker.”
State Rep. Susana Mendoza (D-Chicago) said she saw firsthand the resentment against America five years ago when she was in Rio de Janeiro. “I feel in my gut that this vote today was political and mean-spirited,” she said.
“I travel a lot. … I thought we had really turned a corner with the election of President Obama. People are so much more welcoming of Americans now. But this isn’t the people of those countries. This is the leaders still living with outdated impressions of Americans.”
U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) said she was approached by a consul general at the plaza as they waited for word Friday

I like how Hot Air noticed that the NOMINATION for 2016 came while Bush was President. If it was his fault, why didn't they smack it down then?

This Americans are hated because of Bush idea is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I hate this argument everytime I hear it. It makes no fricken sense.

There are places in the world that hate Americans..NO MATTER WHO IS PREZ. As for travelling places I have travelled many places in the world..all over Europe especially and have found that if you are a polite and careful person you don't encounter any problems. If you go into a country with a fanny pack whining that people dont speak proper english and complaining that the toilets dont have enough water in them..you are going to be disdained. I go to countries with a proper respect for their culture and have never had an issue. Except in Canada. Those damn french canadians just can't be pleased. To say that the world hates us because of Bush is dumb, only word for it. Dumb. It is also dumb to think that other countries now have a POSITIVE view of us because of Obama. They may pretend to be all lovey dovey and ready to "start over" but that is becuase they know he will kiss their ass as much as possible. gotta play nice to get what you want. they are trying him out and testing him. Anyway look whats happening now..they are starting to show their disdain.
"people are so much more welcoming of Americans now." What a crock.
