McChrystal getting the axe?

Gen. McChrystal knows what he's doing. He's been speaking out in public because he is not getting what he wants in private. This, going public, is nothing new and this is not a subject unheard of or left without study in West Point.

Obama HAS to give him more men, and soon, or fire him or face his resignation. The guy thinks the situation is bad enough to press it and that's that.

How long does McChrystal let Obama drag this out?

I'd say a month at the most. Our troops are dying and each day that the Communist Community Organizer delays the request for more troops, that many more troops will die and I'd think the General wouldn't want the blood of his fellow soldiers on his hands due to this inept person occupying the Oval Office and playing politics with American lives.

"This is the classic prescription for failure," Carafano says of the administration's indecisive approach. "And the military guy is sort of caught in the middle, because when the president doesn't want to fight the war the right way, you have three options: You can salute and drive on, or you can resign, or you can stay but play politics and leak things. None of those are good outcomes; none of them are the way to win a war."
Carafano says: "I think this is a case where the generals are dead right and the politicians are dead wrong. And we're going to choose a strategy based on what's politically convenient."
(from this link:Obama Moves to Muzzle Top Military Commanders , provided by a poster in another thread - news & current events)

Based on the interview that I saw, the General didn't seem the type to salute & drive on, or the type to play politics and leak things. My money's on a resignation and I'm hoping that his pension is secure.

I wondered how long it would be before he got his mouth slapped for speaking out. Wasn't it convenient that Obama just happened to be in Copenhagen so the General didn't have to travel too far? Too damn bad Obama couldn't have flown into A'stan to see things for himself, but I guess that would have required common sense and courage. Ha, ha, ha!

Its obvious what is going on in Afghanistan and why obama chooses not to act.
White soldiers are dying at a disproportional rate.
Just like President Bush dragged his feet with Katrina, waiting for as many black casualties that could come (according to the blacks), obama is doing the same with Afghanistan.

how better to kill off whites than to send them ill prepared into a hostile zone.

obama is racist. and the numbers show. whites are roughly 60% of the troops in Afghanistan, yet the represent over 70% of the fallen.

Black, White, whatever our military does not deserve this indecisiveness. I would have relieved Obama as Command-In-Chief for gross incompetence and dereliction of duty.

I have no idea. But this is another pathetic example of just how inexperienced & completely over his head this President is.

The lives of our troops are more important than any other issue on the desk of the US President.

The outward sniping by Pelosi & Gates towards the General - only shows me that the President is not respected by his troops. They're going out and publicly slapping the General in order to make Obama look good.

That's not a good thing amongst the rank & file, IMO. If the lower ranked military people do not respect the CIC - forget about the morale. And the retention rate will be very low.

Say what you will about GW Bush. But I believe the overall morale in the military was high while he was President. Overall they did not doubt him as CIC. Overall they respected him.

I don't believe Obama commands a lot of respect from our military. They may respect the office of the Presidency, because that is what they are commanded to do. But I don't think they respect the man. And that will be detrimental.

Sometimes I wonder if obama really is trying to strip the military of personnel.
Clintons tried it by cutting funds
Bush got caught with is financial pants down when he called on the military after that, but they did it.
obama in his wisdom might figure that if taking money wont work, then taking troops any way possible will.

I think he really wants to leave this country vulnerable to attack.

Well, they certainly talk out of both sides of their mouths - he AND his wife witchy-poo.

All throughout the campaign and in a few photo ops since the Coronation, she's been all up in the military families' faces with her supposed "advocacy".

Oh yeah - this is real advocacy alright. Way to support your military Obama! Put a General in the position of commanding troops and then hamstring him by not giving him what he asks for in order to do the job.

This is risking lives. It hurts the military families. It ultimately hurts the country. Not good at all.

Now, Gates is putting Obama on notice;

Reuters AlertNet - Taliban Afghan momentum due to lack of U.S. troops

Quote:
WASHINGTON, Oct 5 Reuters - The Taliban has the momentum in Afghanistan now because of the inability of the United States and its allies to put enough troops into the country, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on Monday.
I would actually have some respect for Obama if he, as CiC, pulled us out of Afghanistan.

All McCrystal and now, Gates, are saying is; "Here's your chance to show some leadership. We HAVE to tell you like it is because it's getting worse. We HAVE to make it public because talking to you in private isn't working."

If Obama increases troop levels, he'll own it and have his Vietnam. I have no idea why this is even an issue. There is NO US national interest served by still being there and this is draining his other wants.

As I stated in another thread, a Bad decision is better than NO DECISION. My Advice is listen the guy with Boots on the round. If he says give me more troops, get off you ass and give him more troops.

But that would hurt is already average approval rating now wouldn't it.
