She is pounding the proposition that politicians are the problem NOW with health care and how THEY are in bed with the insurers and the government option is a sham.

Yeah, so? If someones argument makes sense and stands on it's own merits, it makes no difference what their background is.

I mean, if Obama said "It is best to organize the community (ie, the people who don't work) and extort other people to give you what you want." it shouldn't matter that that is what he used to do. It's either a good argument or, in this case, just a bad idea. For those being extorted.

The former lieutenant governor, who is an adjunct senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, marshaled personal anecdotes, research findings, and numbers to make her point to guests: More than 100,000 die annually from an infectious disease developed in a hospital — deaths that are almost entirely preventable if hospitals were to implement the proper hygiene procedures.

These procedures are not complicated: Ms. McCaughey has defined 15 requests patients can make. These include asking hospital staff and visitors to clean their hands; asking that stethoscopes be wiped with alcohol and, three to five days before surgery, bathing with chlorhexidine soap, which helps remove bacteria a patient may have on his skin.

Susan Bayh went from midlevel lawyer at Eli Lilly while Evan Bayh was Indiana governor to serving on the boards of eight companies, beginning the month before he was elected to the Senate. "Mrs. Bayh is what is called 'overboarded,' " says one industry watcher. The senator, one of the most conservative members of the Democratic caucus, says his family's income from health care companies hasn't affected his views and he has no plans to withdraw his vote.
