Why Aren't Schools Teaching Our Children Their Rig

Why Aren't Schools Teaching Our Children Their Rights and Freedoms?

Socialist denying America's Heritage to hide a Citizens Rights .....

Quote:
.... being an American Citizen is knowing your rights ....
"instruct the mass or our Citizens in .... their rights, interests, and duties as men and citizens" Thomas Jefferson

aka if you never teach someone there history, and rights given in the Constitution, how will know they can stick up for themselves ....

.... I was also taught if students didn't learn, then teachers didn't teach ... extending the school year and those kinds of things are not going to cure the problem ....

I have often wondered why the schools dont teach a course in insurance policies and tax laws.

Every student upon graduation will face the fact that if they work they will have to pay taxes and if they are smart they will have to buy insurance for their car their home their health, and yet they are taught nothing of these things that will be with them all their lives.

I can't speak for schools in Oaklahoma but I do know that MD schools teach govt (3 branches, checks & balances, etc) in 5th grade. American History is taught in 8th grade (Colonial - reconstruction) and 9th grade (Reconstruction - present).

Swear allegiance to the flag
Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel
Teach the children quietly
For some day sons and daughters

When I was in 9th grade they did teach me all that stuff. Taxes, how to write checks, how to keep a balanced check book etc. But then again, a few years earlier when I was in 6th grade, they also showed me how to make a bookcase, how to cook, and how to sew.

I guess they figured that no one needs to know how to do any of that any stuff anymore.

....need a bookcase, go to IKEA and buy something made in China.
....need to balance your checkbook, why hit the ATM to see how much money you have; or better yet CREDIT CARD!
....got a hole in your sock, trash it and buy another one imported from Pakistan.
.....need something to eat? Stop in at one of the 2000 fast food places along the way on your way to/from work.

And no one knows why this Country is as screwed up as it is......

We were tought that stuff as well, in MD. There used to be a test called the MD Functional Reading Test that we had to pass or no graduation. This was late 70's early 80's.
