I keep politics to a bare minimum on Facebook, but as a rule, I only let a very few people be friends - I don't want to know about every single person I've ever minutely known about, every damned day of my life.

Even so, despite what I write here, most of my relatives range from left-wing to extreme, extreme left-wing. Some of them are to the left of the "truthers". I don't even broach the subject - they will not listen.

I've never unfriended anyone, or blocked someone on the Internet because I found their politics too outrageous. To do so would mean dropping most of my family. I have, however, blocked people I found vicious, insulting or blatantly racist. And not because I'm offended, but it just saves time reading.

I don't have a FB, but I have a very conservative friend who sends me conservative emails now and then. Some of them are jokes, but some of them are serious. I have never said anything to him. I just delete them. Then I ask myself why he sends them to me in the first place. To get under my skin? Probably.
