| Strung Out | To date, the ONLY website I've seen that states, in their rules of the road, "Agree with us or go away" is a site that proclaims to be 'progressive'; The DU

| I have many friends from college on my facebook..and as you can imagine..many of them are liberal....they do post things..as do I...but we have all managed to be civil and avoid confronting each other on personal pages..that means I am not going to slam someones view on their wall..but I may post a link or video refuting their claim..we keep it completely inpersonal..writing on someone's wall makes it seem like you are attacking them personally and all their friends who see their page..who are not your friends as well can see it..and that embarrasses people. We stick to status updates and comments on those status updates and have managed to all remain civil and kind to each other..despite our differing views...the day Obama got the Nobel prize was a verrry interesting day in facebook land though ... ![]()

| Board Mommy | I'm still your friend, Bob. ![]() I don't get into a lot of politics on my FB. My ex-BIL is a wheel in the Libertarian party, so sometimes I'll have a Wall argument with him, but even then it's all in the spirit of debate and no hard feelings.

| Of course not.. Carla is Carla, but I think she's WAAAY above taking something like that personal. She's not going to un-like for a differing opinion. I LIKE Carla

| Strung Out | It is pretty much a fact of life that having very different opinions on the major political issues, plus religion, tends to make it unusual to remain friends or as close as you were or to become friends. I have a LONG TIME client who I can have healthy, interesting conversations about politics and she and her hubby and employees are about as far left as it gets. I leave messages on her answering machine seeking donations fro GOPAC and it sends her into a tizz until she figures out it's me. Having the common interest, business, certainly is core; she pays her bills, I treat them like they pay their bills, so, maybe that's what would help people, to identify the thing or two they really like about the other person to help keep it from getting too personal or to heal bumps and bruises? I know Vrail does that, takes what she likes in people and not so much what she doesn't. Good life skill. My customer used to have a partner who actually ripped into me one day, years ago, when we were, I thought, bantering, and he told me, in no small anger, I should feel damn lucky I was born a straight white suburban male in America. It was the first time I'd experienced just how venomous people could get over politics.
