The Plan:

- Crash they system
- Bash the System
- Hold down the people
- Tax the people
- Make them dependent on the government

Then

- Own the system
- Control the System

Face it young people, you are now going to HAVE to buy it and it is going to cost MORE just so the older generation can get boner pills and blood pressure treatment. Going to have to put off buying that car or that trip to Spring Break.
Pelosi has considered that and is adding provisions to cover young Americans via their parents plans until the kids are 27. That should give them a couple more election cycles.

What surprised me about this article is, the writer was and probably still is a die-hard Obama supporter, but that she is clearly facing what the future holds if we all go to Obamacare.

Because what she does advocate is Medicare For All, a fact she brings up repeatedly.

I'm just amazed that to move from DC to Massachusetts, without any other change in her lifestyle or health, her health insurance costs have more than doubled - because NOW, the state of Massachusetts is in charge. Everything else is the same, but for some reason, it costs 150% more when the government runs it.

You know, if it weren't for the catastrophic costs of an occasional expensive procedure or expensive tests, I think we could all easily afford the cost of health care. Think of it - auto insurance is more or less affordable, because no matter how bad it is, most of the time the costs are limited by the value of the car (barring personal injury). You don't pay out tens of thousands of dollars for a car worth eight thousand bucks.

The reason we DO pay the costs we do, is that some things do cost one hell of a lot, and insurance companies distribute that cost. Most of us pay about 10-12,000 a year in health insurance (along with our employers) but it's rare we ever actually would ever pay that much if we did it out of pocket. We're paying for the satisfaction of knowing the money WILL be there if we need it, but otherwise, we're paying for everyone else's health.

Except for the rich. They don't buy insurance at all. They can easily afford to just pay out of pocket, which is another reason why some of these schemes won't work. There's no intelligent reason for them to EVER buy health insurance.

So - what would medical costs be like if all very expensive procedures and tests were fully covered by Uncle Sam - and we paid for the rest?

I'm right there with you! I'm 25 and when I was listening to the debates, speeches, and all the other campaign stuff, I knew that Obama knew how to talk. Whether people would actually hear what was being said vs. what they heard was what was the biggest issue on my mind.

Like you mentioned, when the govt doesn't give the refund they are expecting, maybe the ignorant and naive that voted for him will begin to realize that Obama isn't anywhere near what he painted himself out to be.

Obama is a good example of the Democratic symbol with a hell of a speech writer.

I look at it this way. Social Security started as a program for wage earners to put away so much money each payday, so when they retire that money will be there for them to draw on. No interest, no dividend paid out, just gross cash set aside. Then suddenly the fed saw all this cash sitting there and thought “We can use this for people who lost their spouses that have kids. We can pay out so much for each kid they have. That will guarantee us votes.” Then they said “There’s still an awful lot of money sitting in that SS coffer. Why don’t we divvy some out to folks that get injured and can’t get a job”. Next thing you know it’s broke.

Bottom line for me is… Sure, let the government cover catastrophic care and we pay the rest. So they tax us accordingly. Over time people get more healthy requiring less cat care but more money coming in. So they find other ways to blow that money. Next thing you know it’s broke and they are looking to find ways to jack up our taxes to fix that.

It never ends. They will find something else that we need, dream up some scheme to fix it, tax us then blow the money on something other than what it was intended for. It never ends. Give more to the fed to manage and less for us to have a say-so in.

I don’t trust them. They’ve screwed up every federal social program alive today. They’re either looking for ways to jack up our taxes to cover the losses or cut benefits. In the mean time deficits continue to climb the dollar dwindles and nothing ever gets solved. The only thing any of these programs have solved is propagating the delusion that we need them to fix it and place more power in their hands over us.
