Young people

had an instrumental part in getting Obama elected. Will they be happy when they are now forced to purchase health insurance at a hefty cost or be fined? Will there be a backlash? A 22 year old should have a lower premium because they are young and low risk, but now that they are being forced to buy Health Insurance to leverage the high costs of older people.

Face it young people, you are now going to HAVE to buy it and it is going to cost MORE just so the older generation can get boner pills and blood pressure treatment. Going to have to put off buying that car or that trip to Spring Break.

Here is what I think.
The young people that voted for this socilist in the first place were facing the reality that they were soon to be off of their parents policy.
when you are in your early 20s you dont have a clue what the reality of paying your own way is, its been supplied for you all your life and the thought of having to pay for your own is not a happy one.

So, here comes the socialist, he promises that the government will now become your mommy and daddy and supply all of these things for you. Not realizing that unlike your real parents who paid and did not ask you to contribute, your new daddy is going to force you to pay a large portion of your earned income to support not only you, but others.

This is the reality that will bring them back to reality and have them voting republican. If in in 2012, certainly by 2016.

I disagree completely. I think the young people voted for him simply because he was cool, young and black. they had not concept of what the hell he was going to do and didn't care. he wasn't a old white republican and the media said he was cool so they went for him.

NOW it is going to cost them and they are not going to like it. Forking out a couple grand a year is not going to sit well. See they are all over this "help everyone" kick when it is other peoples money doing the helping. when it is theirs it is going to be sobering.

That's probably a large precentage of the young people that voted for him. If they are a college student they can stay on their parents health insurance up to 6 months after they graduate or leave college. So most of them are used to getting everything paid for except those that work their way through.

Im gonna have to agree with this..being a young person myself..many people I know had no clue about Obama and what he does..and still dont..they saw that he was supposed to be the cool guy..young..and hes black so hes got street cred...Mtv personalities and pdiddy promoting him...telling them that hes gonna change the world and stuff...I was amazed and disgusted that no one paid any attention to anything else but the hype..and these are college educated people..you would think they would do a little research! I think when they grow up a little..and actually get jobs that qualify them to pay taxes..their minds will change. Though many are still blind and have no idea whats going on...Im thinking that will change when at tax time..they dont get all of their money back for the first time...I know thats what got me...

and for the record I am in my early 20s and I support myself just fine..and have for awhile...even while I was in college. In fact I really pride myself on doing so..and always have. I dont want anyone to take care of me..and I know Im not the only young person out there who feels like that..though it seems that way sometimes.

Details are not set yet but these are the facts;

Old people cost more health wise.

Young people are cheap health wise.

If you add a bunch of old people to a plan guaranteeing no exclusion for pre-existing conditions and no cost increases you increase the cost of the plan greatly.

If you add a bunch of high cost older people you have to add either an even larger segment of young people, or jack the price for young people to offset the increase caused by adding the costly older people.

You see the government keeps saying there will be no cost increases, no tax increases. Where is that money coming from?
