Earmarks.....

From the Washington Times:

"Among the 778 such projects, known as earmarks, packed into the bill: $25 million for a new World War II museum at the University of New Orleans and $20 million to launch an educational institute named after the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat."

While earmarks are hardly new in Washington, "in 30 years on Capitol Hill, I never saw Congress mangle the defense budget as badly as this year," said Winslow Wheeler, a former Senate staffer who worked on defense funding and oversight for both Republicans and Democrats. He is now a senior fellow at the Center for Defense Information, an independent research organization.
Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican, called the transfer of funds from Pentagon operations and maintenance "a disgrace."

"The Senate is putting favorable headlines back home above our men and women fighting on the front lines," he said in a statement. "

Look it up! Our demokratic congress is at it again!

Our Troops are fighting overseas, but hell, they have to take first things first!

Ok, in case you wondered:

U.S. troop funds diverted to pet projects - Washington Times

These are the sorts of projects the Obammy administration feels is MORE important than our troops' welfare.

None of that is true. You're just making all that up, because you can't stand the idea of a black man as President of the United States. Chairman...I mean, President Maobama, when he was Candidate Obama, PROMISED us that he would not allow pork and riders into legislation.

Obama wouldn't lie to us! He loves us!

Erp! I think I just threw up in my mouth.

I kind of wonder if the WW2 Memorial in New Orleans would be built on stilts or would it too be built to be flooded in a good rain storm.

A Educational Institution to be named for fat Ted Kennedy who got into Harvard as a " Legacy" and then got expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once for paying a classmate to cheat for him. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but mistakenly signed up for four years instead of two. His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to England, pulled the necessary strings to have his enlistment shortened to two years, and to ensure that he served in Europe, not Korea, where a war was raging.
While attending law school at the University of Virginia, he was cited for reckless driving four times, including once when he was clocked driving 90 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood with his headlights off after dark. Yet his Virginia driver's license was never revoked.
On 19 July 1969, Kennedy attended a party on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts. At about 11:00 PM, he borrowed his chauffeur's keys to his Oldsmobile limousine, and offered to give a ride home to Mary Jo Kopechne, a campaign worker. Leaving the island via an unlit bridge with no guard rail, Kennedy steered the car off the bridge, flipped, and into Poucha Pond. He swam to shore and walked back to the party -- passing several houses and a fire station -- and two friends returned with him to the scene of the accident. According to their later testimony, they told him what he already knew, that he was required by law to immediately report the accident to the authorities. Instead Kennedy made his way to his hotel, called his lawyer, and went to sleep.

Kennedy called the police the next morning. By then the wreck had already been discovered. Before dying, Kopechne had scratched at the upholstered floor above her head in the upside-down car. The Kennedy family began pulling strings, ensuring that any inquiry would be contained. Her corpse was whisked out-of-state to her family, before an autopsy could be conducted. Further details are uncertain, but after the accident Kennedy says he repeatedly dove under the water trying to rescue Kopechne, and he didn't call police because he was in a state of shock. In versions not so kind, it is widely assumed Kennedy was drunk, that he was having an affair with Kopechne, and/or that he held off calling police in hopes that his family could fix the problem overnight.

Yes: This is a guy who should have a Educational Institute named after him.

Stealing money from the troops that need all they can get, is not surprising coming from a group of partisan hacks who cater to a man (Obama)who never served his country, If this is his country.

A Little More Data....

The Center for Defense Information, National Taxpayers Union, Project on Government Oversight and Taxpayers for Common Sense expressed concerns about such spending -- but wrote that combined with the earmarks, the bill "will reduce already insufficient funds for troops in the field."
"The groups are concerned the money is being drawn from the accounts for operations and maintenance, which provides funding for training, maintenance and equipment parts.

"It's outrageous," said Winslow Wheeler, a long-time Senate staff member who now works with the Center for Defense Information.

He claimed Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, chairman of the Defense Subcommittee, teamed up with ranking Republican Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., and other lawmakers to cut more than $3 billion from the bill to make room for the earmarks.
"This is how they pay for the pork," he said. "I worked there for 30 years. I know how the operation's done."

But Inouye spokesman John Bray said the charge is false. He said the committee determined that the Pentagon's operations and maintenance request was "outdated," and that the panel provided funding "at an appropriate level that meets the critical needs of our men and women in uniform."
"The notion that the committee has somehow diverted funds needed for our troops in order to pay for 'pet projects' or other priorities is patently false. Anyone who suggests this clearly doesn't understand the appropriations process," he said in an e-mail to Foxnews.com.

Sorry folks, but I'm not "buying" his remarks! We are not all politicians, however, we as citizens of this country are a little more perceptive than he might give us credit for!

I agree with you, but what else would you expect a Inouye mouthpiece to say. ????That they used the money to buy votes at home?
