HuffPo, Rick Sanchez retract phony Limbaugh quotes

HuffPo, Rick Sanchez retract phony Limbaugh quotes

Quote:
No harm in admitting the lie now that his NFL bid’s dead. First, via the Standard, comes this belated HuffPo postscript to a post that’s three years old:
Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this post contained quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh, which Limbaugh has since denied making. As is our policy when a fact in a blog post is called into question, we gave its author 24 hours to substantiate the quote. Since he has not been able to do so, the quotes have been deleted from the post.
And now here’s Sanchez, kinda sorta apologizing — on Twitter — for airing the bogus slavery quote on his show earlier this week:
i’ve know rush. in person,i like him. his rhetoric, however is inexcusably divisive. he’s right tho. we didn’t confirm quote. our bad.
Proof that Limbaugh’s threat to sue people over this is being taken seriously? Eh, I doubt it. As I said before, it’s really hard for a public figure to prove defamation. He’d basically have to show that his accusers knew the quote was false and published it anyway; both HuffPo and Sanchez would reply that they didn’t know and were merely lazy, sloppy, negligent reporters in relying on published sources for a quote that they hadn’t fact-checked. The retractions, I suspect, are motivated less by fear of being sued than as a lame nod to journalistic ethics. “See, we correct our highly incendiary errors. …Eventually.”
The establishment media is drunk with their 'victory'.

Ah Huh ...... Points and Laughs

Quote:
The Post-Dispatch also points out that the source of the quote was Jack Huberman's 2006 book, 101 People Who Are Really Screwing America. "The book provided no details about the origin of the quote," the Editor's Note explains. "When contacted by the Post-Dispatch, Huberman said that he had a source for the quote but declined to reveal it on advice of counsel. The book's publisher, Nation Books, did not return calls to the Post-Dispatch."

(Huberman's response suggests pretty strongly to us that he never actually heard Limbaugh say the words on the air, or in any other setting.)

merely by making the accusation ..... RUSH has been shown the door, even though these false hood have been exposed

That reminds me.
Pan Lady and I were over my parents house last winter when we got the only snow of the year.
Pan Lady went out and cleared the snow from the walk way and around the car.
My father thanks her for doing it.
I say to him.
Whats the sense of having a hispanic in the family if you cant get free yard work out of them.

It was like a race to the back of my head, I think pan lady won, but dad was so close behind her that I have no clue how he didnt hit her instead.
Mom just sat there and looked at me with that "excuse me??" look on her face.

comment didnt go as well in real life as it did in my mind right before saying it.
