First Ladies: A Study in Contrasts

Found this over at Lucianne this morning. I showed Thing2 and he said OMG, she really has NO class!

He took the words right out of my mouth!

First ladies are on display every time they are outside the White House in the public view.

This may not be fair, perhaps they should be allowed to appear laid back, and in comfortable non-formal clothing.

But that doesn't match the fact that they are always on display. Now Michelle may not realise this or perhaps she doesnt care, but she should have an advisor somewhere that should clue her in, and she should listen to their advice.

Certainly she isnt used to being in the political spotlight or she would already realise this.
Like I say, maybe she doesnt care, and in that case she would be classless..and clueless.

I really don't think it's a question of class because she's wearing what is comfortable....I can find plenty wrong with the POTUS and FL without going at their attire choices.

That being said when I met GW and Laura I was more taken back by the sheer class and elegance of the FL than meeting the Pres...everyone makes fun of me because since that day I have always said Laura Bush was hot..

Michelle was the wife of a State Senator & then US Senator, before she became the First Lady of our United States. I think she has a sense of what is expected in the way of proper decorum & protocol of a First Lady.

I think it is deliberate. She has a WTF cares sense about her and I think this is part of it. And that is a low class way to act as First Lady of our country.

JMO, of course.

I have found plenty wrong with the POTUS and FL. Posts of mine are clearly searchable.

Class is not (always) about clothing. I don't really consider this about attacking her attire choices. It's the way she comports herself when she is clearly in the public spotlight every minute she outside her residential quarters in the upstairs of the White House.

some people care, some don't. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with her being comfortable while she's traveling. How dare she wear SHORTS or CASUAL clothing!

Politicians are expected to wear nice clothing while on the job and I guess during most photo ops, but it's not like they are always wearing nice clothing...I bet they all wear shorts. I guess this may be a "photo op" but I really don't care what she wears when she is on a plane. If she wore that to a banquet or when acting as the First Lady for something where that dress is inappropriate, then I'd have a problem.

I'm sure they fired the advisor that was in place, and replaced them with one of their own, you know, with someone that thinks looks, and acts like them.

I don't understand what the point of having an advisor is if they are just going to be a yes man, and kiss your ass all day.

Probably the same person that advised him on what to get foreign dignitaries for gifts of apprciation.

We are on the forefront of many things...maybe this is just another one.

I don't pay enough attention to politicians wives to see how they dress. Yes, everything I've seen before has been "classy" in comparison, but I don't know where this picture was taken, when this picture was taken, or what the situation was. Do you? What if she was on vacation and it was taken by a single person from a long range lens, because it wasn't a photo shoot?

I don't think that all of those spouses you mentioned dress "classy" 24/7. And if they do, is the country paying for their wardrobe? Do we pay for Michelle's wardrobe? I don't really know.

As I said, it's not about the clothing. That just happens to be a picture in which the contrast between the 2 First Lady is evident in their choice of clothing.

It's an attitude, a way of life. Michelle Obama is very astute about how she conducts herself. I'm positive about that.

If you don't get it - you don't get it.
