Who's partisan now?

Quote:
President Obama has declared political war on the Fox News Channel. He refuses to appear on Fox News - at least for the rest of this year - and has unleashed his administration's attack dogs. The goal is to vilify the network's hard-won reputation.

"What I think is fair to say about Fox - and certainly it's the way we view it - is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party," said Anita Dunn, White House communications director, on CNN. "They take their talking points, put them on the air; take their opposition research, put them on the air. And that's fine. But let's not pretend they're a news network the way CNN is."

Ms. Dunn's comments are a blatant attempt by the White House to delegitimize and undermine Fox News' journalistic credibility. The administration is seeking to portray the network as a media arm of the Republican Party.

This is false. It has repeatedly highlighted Republican Party scandals - former Rep. Mark Foley of Florida, lobbyist Jack Abramoff, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford - as well as the wasteful spending and runaway deficits that took place under President George W. Bush. When the war in Iraq was going badly prior to the 2007 troop surge, Fox News did not shy away from covering negative stories on the ground.
Who's partisan now? - Washington Times

Quote:
For decades, The Washington Post, the New York Times, CNN, CBS News, ABC News, and NBC News have operated as a "wing" of the Democratic Party. It is a mark of how brittle the White House is that one lone news organization should inspire such fear and loathing.

From the article:
Mr. Obama has a messiah complex. He is the prince of power, who does not tolerate agnosticism of any kind. To question him is to incur his wrath. That's not presidential leadership; it is megalomania. Such behavior from an elected leader should not be tolerated in the world's greatest democracy.

Amen, Brother, Amen.

I'll admit that I don't pay much attention to Fox News anymore, and perhaps their reporting perspective, ideologically speaking, has changed substantially in the last 2 or 3 years. However, from what I remember of them, I would have described their perspective as having a moderately conservative bent socially, and a moderately liberal bent fiscally (to the extent that all matters political can be thusly divided - which they really can't). On the whole, I'd have described them as moderate - slightly liberal, if anything.

Has their reporting perspective shifted a lot?

When you look at Olberman, Maddow, Mathews, Colmes, then look at O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck, there appears a certain balance.

Obama doesnt want balance, He wants to be fawned over by them all.

Well, shall we wait and see how he gets FOX off the air? How he sends the message to all other media sources, "Report the News i want you to report, or sufffer my wrath!!"?

The Venezuelan President did it, but I don't think ours will be so obvious.

You cannot blanket label a whole network. Well, I guess you *can*, but it's incorrect and unfair. There are liberals, conservatives, and in-betweens reporting and editorializing on Fox.

While their star pundits tend to lean right, the actual news and reporting is straight down the middle. And we will note that even Sean Hannity, who is the most conservative show host they have - even he welcomes liberal guests on his discussion panels and isn't completely one-sided. And on the opposite end of the spectrum is Geraldo Rivera, who is very much a liberal; he frequently has Ann Coulter on to verbally spar with.

Fair and balanced, as advertised. And only a brainwashed idiot would say otherwise.

The Left, including our freakin' PRESIDENT, trying to shut down a media outlet that doesn't kowtow to them scares the hell out of me.

An acquaintance of mine's favorite pastime is to disparage Fox Channel and rail about their bias. He hates Bill O'Reilly in particular for some reason. I said, "When was the last time you watched O'Reilly?" and he replied, "I don't have to watch O'Reilly - I know what he is."

Brainwashed idiot. What do you say to someone like that?

I agree. Their overall bent just never seemed particularly conservative to me (except of course, relative to many other TV information sources). So, I was just wondering if they've become significantly more so (i.e. conservative), or added more conservative thinking people while axing all the more liberal thinking people. Otherwise, the Administration's position seems not only inappropriate and immature, but completely disingenuous and ridiculous as well.
