That's right. Given the way Dubbya turned out, we'd have been far better off had Gore won Florida. We'd still have both chambers and, with divided government, as under Clinton, we'd have had the responsible check and balance we desperately lacked from 2001 on.

What makes you think the GOP is going to take over Congress any time in the near future?

Larry, what makes you think this? Do you really believe that George Bush completely destroyed the Republican party single-handedly? Really?

The way the Democrats are silencing their critics, from political pundits to private industry, they will be in power for the next millennium. People can't make an informed voting decision if the information is squashed.

Compared to Obama, I'll take Bush back any day! And Obama can keep the Nobel Appeasement Prize also...

Nope. I think what he did, by and large, is what the GOP likes; floods of illegal immigrants to exploit. Hand outs to big business. Dependence on foreign oil. Little candy treats for the masses at tax time. Expansion of entitlements. Growth in spending and scope and breadth of government. Lots of flag waving and troop deployment$. Just as long as it is their guy in charge, it's all good.

That is the deeper problem.

Because I'm seriously not interested in another 4 years of this crap. Hell, we're only 10 months into it and I've had enough. But if you all are going to give him another term, I'm not going to concern myself with politics anymore because it will be clear that there's nothing I can do about the direction our country is taking, and therefore shouldn't worry about it.
Making this argument on a predominantly Republican forum in a predominantly Democratic state problem won't make much impact on politics or the direction of our country. Unfortunately this area just doesn't matter.

I know this isn't directed at me - but I'll say it anyway - MY conscience is clear! I didn't vote for this mess!

And my conscience is clear. I did what I could to keep the dictator out of office.
