In spite of Bush's missteps, his failure to keep our borders secure, etc., you cannot dispute that claim. We were never attacked again, thanks to President Bush and his team.

We seem to forget the fact that we were, and we have been, safe, because of his efforts.

According to the American Conservative Union, McCain's lifetime voting record was 81.43 percent conservative through 2008. Obama's was 10. Yeah, they're really alike.

If you're willing to let the perfect be the enemy of the good, then you deserve the eight years of Obama followed followed by eight years of some other socialist that you're going to get. Or as Reagan put it, "My eighty percent friend is not my twenty percent enemy".

You are f****** kidding me, right? DO YOU PEOPLE ever wake the hell up? I am a pretty hard conservative but you people don't even freakin' think about the crap you spew. Thats what makes it hard for us conservatives these days. Thats what makes it hard for liberals these days, too. Both parties are sold on a modern hypocrisy that blinds them to the truth. Nobody has done s*** for anybody for years --- dignified presidencies, my ass.

Why are you all arguing about failures of ideology on a National scale All these same ills that we see wrong with the Republicans OR Democrats start right here at home.

If we can't sort out our own county commissioners, how in the he^^ can we expect to sort out the Presidency?

Start with stupid economic development actions, corruption in planning and zoning areas, developer welfare schemes, and keep on moving.

Expose, indict, and replace.

Just get a few GOOD people in government to start pointing out the graft.

My dad used to say (along with Tip O'Neill!) "all politics is local".

Nope. I can not top totalitarian impulses. If your sorry ass is more than willing to give up essential liberty for temporary safety then you deserve neither and you will have neither.

Obama and his merry band of true socialists are more than happy to take the aperatus created by Dubbya and use it to subjugate the people of this nation ever more, be it economics or personal liberties, and you can look back and say it was OK for Bush to do it because he was a good man and would never use that power for ill purposes and that may be true.

However, Bush was not our king. He was JUST a president and they come and go. Their legacy is the things they do to our system that stick, like the PATRIOT act, like TARP, like bailing out the UAW, like DHS, like illegal immigration, like expansion of entitlements desperate for reduction like raising not a finger to stop FANNY from choking our economy nearly to death.

Those things last. Obama could NEVER do what he is doing absent Bush making it so, opening Pandora's box ever wider. He couldn't do it because the Bush apologentsia would see socialism for what it is if it's the OTHER guy doing it. Plus, why, Daddy Bush kept us...safe!!!

Did he? Really? You feel safe now?

That's a good point and that is the grounds I made my decision on; McCain was not GOOD enough to vote for. That 80% rating does not stand up to his record on;

Free speech
Illegal immigration
domestic oil supply
taxes
judges
man made global warming farce
the vulgar way he treated some folks in the POW/MIA crowd
The wars

A perfect stew can stand a little dirt in it and still be good. A good stew can stand way less before it becomes...dirt.

I think Reagan would agree that what makes up that 80% and 20% very much matters. If I am all for gun rights, tax cuts, pro business and pro military, does any of that really matter if I oppose free speech?
