A Democrat to Be Proud of!

YAY Joe!!

Quote:
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Tuesday that he’d back a GOP filibuster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s health care reform bill.

Lieberman, who caucuses with Democrats and is positioning himself as a fiscal hawk on the issue, said he opposes any health care bill that includes a government-run insurance program — even if it includes a provision allowing states to opt out of the program, as Reid has said the Senate bill will.

"We're trying to do too much at once," Lieberman said. “To put this government-created insurance company on top of everything else is just asking for trouble for the taxpayers, for the premium payers and for the national debt. I don’t think we need it now."

I think Lieberman won last time as an Independent.

Funny he won as a third party candidate because the Democrats didnt want him. Now Sarah Palin is backing Hoffman who may win despite Republicans not wanting him.

If we could line up the people who supported Lieberman and the People who support Hoffman , maybe we could find a good balance for a third party.

The two we have arent much. There has to be better choices out there than the two parties are giving us.

Well, of course he won as an Independent. But he's still a Democrat. Ran as a Democrat for VP. Been a Democrat up there for years.

Sheesh.

Try to liven up the place and look what it gets me.

The word Democrat is obviously similar to that pink ooze the Ghostbusters found in Ghostbusters 2... the mere mentioning of the word brings out nastiness.

Sheesh.

If he only were a Democrat......You'll just have to make do with being proud of your Independent. That is until he has to change to another party to keep his senate seat....

Meanwhile - back at the ranch - the POINT I was making -

I think it's great that he's doing this - I'm pointing out that he's standing on his principles, etc. Much like what he did when he switched his political affiliation to run for office again.

Aren't you cute with all your fun facts?!

Did you actually READ the piece?

He caucuses with the Democrats [and has been a Democrat for the majority of his long political career-which is longer than you've been born, honey child]

He's an Independent now so he can represent his principles and views more independently. Kind of like Vrai did when announced that she changed her affiliation recently. Just like I might do if I decide to change my affiliation.

I support gay marriage, I am pro-choice, I support use of embryonic stem-cell cells, etc.

However, I am anti-single payer healthcare system, I am against creating more entitlement programs, for low taxes, against cap and trade, and in general economically an old school small federal government conservative.

I have no home in any party. The bible thumpers hijacked the Republican party, and the socialists hijacked the Democratic party. Thus I am a registered independent and in general a huge cynic when it comes to politics.

Choosing a party is like choosing between the lesser of two evils, same with voting for President.

Although I may question Liebermann's loyalties and motives... he may just be out still to get vengeance on his fellow Democrats for not supporting his re-election as a Democrat... I welcome any politician who runs as an Independent. I wish there were more politicians bearing the (I-XX) tag in general.
