Obama greets caskets of returning Americans

Quote:
DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. - U.S. President Barack Obama saw first hand the human cost of the Afghanistan war Thursday as he saluted the flag-draped caskets of 18 soldiers and Drug Enforcement Administration agents killed in Afghanistan this week.

After a midnight flight in his Marine One presidential helicopter, Obama landed in Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, home of the largest U.S. military mortuary and main point of entry for service members killed abroad.

The previously unannounced visit came as Obama weighs whether to send more troops to Afghanistan to fight an insurgency that has reached its fiercest level in eight years.

These poor departed soldiers DO NOT deserve to be disgraced by this obvious propoganda event by zerO to make some kind of lame excuse concerning his decision to allow more of their fellow soldiers to DIE in that horrid country. Send the reinforcements the General wants OR let's call it a defeat and bring them ALL home.

Allowing them to be killed one-by-one while he dithers on the golf course is despicable and irresponsible.

As much as I would like to use this to slam the o, I can not bring myself to use the fallen military as a wedge to do so.

While I agree with the "####-or-get-off-the-pot" mentality, I do not think this is propaganda, nor a photo-op.

Regardless of his policies or time spent on the golf-course (although, I can't begrudge him or find fault for having leisure-time), he is the President of the United State and Commander in Chief, and it's not only his rightful place, but his duty to honor fallen soldiers.

The cameras, however, should remained banned, IMO. Those men had families, and the world doesn't need to watch their suffering.

To have done so in private without anyones knowledge would have been noble. To have the press there leaves doubt as to his (or his handlers) real intent. I'm on the fence on this one so I vote PRESENT!

Lots of military media blitz from The Won lately. Showing "leadership" before he pulls the rug out from under the troops in A-Stan?

This is a set-up if I ever saw one.

Bush did the same thing...excepting that the camera's were banned. It is vital for the Commander in Chief to show homage to the troops he puts in harms way.

However, instead of the President dictating what happens in the way of Camera's, now it is up to the military families to decide whether or not they want a camera on the situation. That is as it should be.

Many families say yes....and the reasoning is that they want America to see the costs and reality of it all.... Many families think the public at large is detached from the wars. I agree with them.

That said, it should put a fire under their arses to do the right thing. While I can respect a person not making rash and quick judgments, I do think that Obama does take to long to mull his decisions.

What this photo op shows me is that indecision is costing more and more lives each day too.
