Obama Poll Numbers Climbing Again

Quote:
President Barack Obama's approval rating has hit its highest point in two years — 60 percent — and more than half of Americans now say he deserves to be re-elected, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll taken after U.S. forces killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

In worrisome signs for Republicans, the president's standing improved not just on foreign policy but also on the economy, and independent Americans — a key voting bloc in the November 2012 presidential election — caused the overall uptick in support by sliding back to Obama after fleeing for much of the past two years.

I love how these things say, "Half of ALL Americans." Funny, I don't remember answering such a poll.

Yep, this president is sure at the top of my favorite people list.

Hey lookit that.

You do something that people like - such as getting rid of the scourge of OBL - and your numbers go up.

Let's hope he learns from this, and continues to do things people like.

I have a few suggestions. Maybe I'll email them to him.

The premise of polling is that if an accurate sample is used, a single respondent represents a MUCH larger number of persons.

Because if they asked every person in the United States, it wouldn't be a poll. And oddly, enough NEW error would be introduced that would make it LESS accurate.

Yep. But obviously he's not going to make everybody happy, even on things both sides agree on. Look at the flack he gets for suggesting immigration reform, for instance.

Hopefully he keeps rising in the polls, which should mean he's on the right track. We'll see.

Just in the interest of full disclosure, the company doing this poll is a German company.

I think you are seeing a bump from killing OBL, a long proven phenominom.

Obama has already started his re-election campaign, and NOTE he has started to promise new hand-outs and goodies from the U.S. Treasury to buy votes. That will energize some, and energize others against him, it remains to be seen if enough of the moderate/independents will see the problems and NOT be tempted by pay outs and benefits.

BUT, it could turn out like 1996 again, great Campaigning from an unpopular President, with only a wishy-washy republican that won by default of senoirity, that ran a poor campaign with a 3rd Party Spoiler, and Obama can win a 2nd term.

NOTE: I repect Bob Dole for the service to his country, but he was far from the Solid Conservative we needed to beat Clinton, and his campaign de-energized most of the base, with a lot votes leaving for Perot.

The right Republican challenger could certainly win in 2012, but it's going to have to be a serious candidate, not some celebritician with a "reality" tv show resume. Those that seek immediate popularity by embracing the lunatic fringe aren't going to get it done, either. Independents and moderates on both sides aren't buying into that stuff. (At least in my opinion.)

A serious candidate with at least some personality would make it interesting, at the very least. Much more interesting than Obama would like.

I'll substance over personality any day of the week but unfortunately campaigning for the presidency has been reduced to 30 second sound bites and promises made with 140 characters or less.

Perot would have made an awesome POTUS. If he hadn't have selected some half senile retired admiral for VP I think he would have stood a better shot @ 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.:cojones:
