A Battle Between North End Residents And Tourists On Segways

BOSTON (CBS) – There’s a battle rolling onto Boston’s sidewalks pitting pedestrians against tourists on futuristic wheels.

Residents in the North End have been complaining about an onslaught of Segway riders invading their neighborhood.

“They’re a pain in the butt, especially on like Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays,” said John Gargano. “It creates a nuisance. It creates a hazard.”

That’s why the Boston City Council members voted unanimously to ban Segways from city sidewalks.

Joe Ingram, who’s with a Segway tour company called Boston Glides, says that would push them right into the streets. “It would be a nightmare. I mean keeping everyone together in a line and close and safe and watching their wheels to make sure their wheels don’t tag a car or a curb.”

The walking pier at Solomons is clearly marked 'no skateboards, no bikes, no...."

So last night I see this whale of a man on a Segway racing down the middle of the pier, people jumping out of his way. Guess he figures Segways are excluded from the intent of the posting.

That might be the guy who bar-hops down there on a Segway. I guess he thinks it makes him exempt from DUI.

Ummm, yea, because the inventor, who was a mechanical genius, also assumed he was a Social Engineering Genius also, and pushed his invention as an alternative to cars/vans in urban areas.

Instead, it became an alternative to walking. Did I just see the National Average Weight / BMI go up even higher?

Politically Correct EcoFreindly Death Race 2012!

After Obamacare Death Panels release their rationing quotas, Frankenstien, who is of course Gay, thin, well groomed and oh so fashionable, leads a wild race of Ecofriendly Segways through the country, scoring points by running down the elderly that just aren't economically or ecologically viable to treat and keep alive, autheniasing them mercifully to provide death with dignity!

And political correct speach violators and political correct thought violators (a.k.a. Conservatives) are forced to stand on the sideline holding signs saying "Youth in Asia want to kill my GrandMa!"

And NOT a drop of Oil is used. Well except to set fire to the Politically Correct Violators that do NOT stand in line!

If I remember correctly right after it was introduced, they had issues with the batteries going dead below a certain limit. Apparently it was enough for the gyros to kick off, and they had people falling over randomly.
