The Death Penalty is REALLY Expensive

"Jonathan Kim talks with Liliana Segura, associate editor of the Nation magazine who has written extensively about the death penalty and unfair sentencing. In this video, Liliana explains why another popular justification for the death penalty — that it is cheaper than putting someone in prison for life — is also a myth."

Whats expensive is the liberals habit of sitting the guy in prison for 30 years while a team of lawyers hold of execution hoping that the law will change.

If they were just dropped where they stood at the time they were given the death sentence, it would only cost a buck at the most.

thank you liberals for once again driving the cost of something simple up.

Yep, mandatory one appeal, 12 month max wait for cases like the CT case where the criminals not only confessed to raping Mom and the 12 year old daughter, but killing them and the 17 yo daughter, by burning them alive, but were caught within minutes of the crime, or the recent case in NY, where the guy confessed to smothering and dismembering his young victim. Oh, and that Mexican guy who recently got the needle for what he did in Texas.

I would be willing to trade these for automatic life sentences in cases where there is not DNA or video, or a confession.

Unless of course, you see some reason that animals like the above should be allowed to breathe air that humans breathe. I know some folks who really should be let go will not die, but that's acceptable as long as we get some of them.

Exactly.

I disagree with "unfair sentencing". If it were up to me, a lot more crimes would be punishable by the chair.
