The Road We've Traveled

"
This film gives an inside look at some of the tough calls President Obama made to get our country back on track. Featuring interviews from President Bill Clinton, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Elizabeth Warren, David Axelrod, Austan Goolsbee, and more. It's a film everyone should see."

It’s been filed under the “laughter-through-tears” genre.

$400 000 for a 17 minute propaganda film is money well spent. BS is not cheap.

Does anybody know the minute:second marker where anyone brags about achieveing 8.3% unemployment? or the time marker for where they brag about achieving $4/gallon gas?...or running up the national debt in record-busting fashion?

I'm sure all that is in there..I just don't have time to watch the whole thing.

TIA.

Alternative titles...

"Cops we dissed"

"Car Dealers we ruined"

"Coal mines we shuttered"

"Health Insurance rates we blew through the roof"

"Nations we apologized too"

"Tyrants we replaced with radical mobs"

"Shovel Ready Jobs! Oops, did I say that?"

"Acorn will be at my side in the White House!"

"My Golf Journey"

"Good God, Where did you book our next vacation?"

"Catholics, get over it"

"I closed Guantanamo exactly one year after pledging it"

"How I fulfilled my pledge to Malia (Malaria?) to plug the BP leak"

"The future of mankind: Algae!"

" 'Typical white Woman' and other pithy sayings."

"My Awesome speeches, the 10 DVD collection."

Finally,...."How I abbreviated POTUS down to POS!"

Any of these titles would be worth replacing "The Road I have avoided."

With mad props to Leni Riefenstahl, no doubt.

CNN's Piers Morgan: "Most documentary makers balance these movies with the negative as well as the positive. What are the negatives in your movie about Barack Obama?"

Davis Guggenheim: "Well, I mean the negative for me was there were too many accomplishments. I had 17 minutes to put them all in there."

Morgan: "Oh, come off it! You can't say that with a straight face. Come on."

Guggenheim: "I'm looking at you right now with a straight face. I mean, look --"

Morgan: "The only negativity about Barack Obama is there are too many positives?"

Morgan: "How much did it cost and who paid?"

Guggenheim: "Well, I'll let the campaign tell you that. I -- you know, I took a pay cut to make this. But the --"

Morgan: "I'm surprised you weren't paying him, by the sound of it, for the sheer honor and joy." (CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight," 3/8/12)

The Problem With Obama’s Documentary

Quote:
What’s most striking, though, is how little Obama has to show for his efforts. The documentary focuses almost exclusively on inputs, not outputs; on legislation passed, not successes attained; on narrative, not empirical progress.

In the film we don’t hear anything about the deficit or the debt, the unemployment rate, economic growth, our standard of living, the housing crisis, bending the health care cost curve down, poverty, America’s credit rating, et cetera. That is because on these crucial measures, Obama has no story to tell, no successes to cite, nothing to look back to with pride or forward to with hope.

Obama’s tenure has been, by any reasonable standard, a failure. Not even a Tom Hanks-narrated documentary can change that.

"Obama’s operatives don’t want you to judge him by your unhappiness with your present financial situation. Nor do they want you to judge him by the high aspirations you had for him in the summer of 2008," wrote Slate's Will Saletan. "Forget all that hopey-changey stuff. They want to reset your expectations to the weeks after his election, when the economy was going to hell."

Republicans jumped on the film, which cost at least $345,000 to make, immediately.

"The American people don't need a Hollywood movie to know what the President accomplished over the past three years," Kirsten Kukowski, a spokesperson for the Republican National Committee, told the Associated Press. "Unfortunately Americans feel Obama's accomplishments each and every day after President Obama led our country to higher unemployment, record debt and higher gas prices."

No kidding! Good thing nobody has to pay $12.00 to see this failure.

A more fitting title would’ve been “The Road We Forced You Down”
