Biden at It Again: Veep Tells Odd Story of Blindfolding Americans and Says ‘Great’ Cities Are in China ‘Not’ U.S.


Another Joe Biden speech, another gaffe-like comment.

During a speech at the U.S. Conference of Mayors Friday, Vice President Biden strayed into an odd story about blindfolding Americans and taking them to different cities and then asking which one is in America and which one is in China. His conclusion: while most would say the “great” city is in China, they would be wrong.

“Most American’s would say, ‘well that great one is in America,’” he said. “It’s not!”

“I wish you could travel around the world with me, 600,000 miles so far just as Vice President,” Biden said, adding that he wished he could show them cities in China.

“If I blindfolded Americans and took them into some of the airports or ports in China, and then took one of them to any of your cities in the middle of the night just so that they could see it,” Biden said. “If I said, ‘which one is in America and which one is in China,’ most Americans would say, ‘That great one is in America.’”

“It’s not.” Biden said emphatically.
