Forget the 'cliff' - we have popcorn

The Senate has more important things to do than agree on a budget plan to prevent the 'fiscal cliff'. No budget for nearly 4 years, but - by cracky - there will be popcorn in the Capitol Visitors Center.

As lawmakers struggle to solve the fiscal cliff, they’re also struggling for the right to snack on movie night.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., will make a formal appeal to the Senate Rules Committee in order to allow popcorn into the Senate’s special screening of the new movie “Lincoln” in the Capitol Complex.

The screening, for all Senators and their spouses, will take place in the Capitol Visitors Center on Wednesday,December 19th...

A Senate aide says Reid’s office is currently going through the process of getting approval -because even Senators need their movie snacks.

Priorities! People need to understand that you cant watch movie without popcorn! The budget crap will still be there after the movie, no rush.

I know that's a foreign concept, but it requires more than making one offer you know will be rejected and then taking a vacation.

I have been an equal opportunity blamer on this issue from the beginning. The entire process – house, senate, and executive – have all been behaving like 8th grade children in a school yard. I complained that Boehner is spending way too much time trying to negotiate. Just pass a stinking bill and get some votes on the floor. Get everyone on record.

McConnell tried to get a vote on Obama’s proposal to the senate and Reid blocked it. As with every budget Obama has provided to congress (how many is it now? 3? 4?), he still can’t get a single democrat to vote for it. The house passed a budget and the senate balked at that. The senate has been an ineffective, inept body of misfits that needs some branding irons up their anal regions to get some real work done. Then low and behold they did. Popcorn. Are you freaking kidding me?

This particular thread is about the senate. They now have proven they can actually accomplish something, where they haven’t in the previous 3+ years. The stupidity that they had to stop everything to have a vote on whether popcorn is allowed on the Capital Complex should have everyone scratching their heads as to where their damn priorities are. These guys are paid way too much to for this sort of nonsense, and we have to stop making excuses for them by voting them back in. ALL OF THEM: D and R alike.

You need to use fewer words when explaining things to him. He gets lost after the first couple of sentences and starts spouting stupid, like bringing up the house in a tread about the senate.
