Oh c'mon. Someone who is trained and has experience on how to react in certain types of these situations ie police or retired police

You will never be able to account for every scenario, never.

I'm not sure if I agree with them, they basically say that the law needs to allow anyone accused of making a threatening statement to have all their firearms removed and the person put under observation for 72 hours. So going through a nasty divorce, wife is a gun owner, just say she threatened to kill you to get her locked up and all her firearms confiscated.

I would feel a lot better if they made it a substantial crime to falsly accuse someone like that and include it in the bill recommendation.
They figured all this out in a week?

I think it was more like one or two days of meetings.

The good news is that the pro-2nd people on the committee kept the direction from going off into areas that would have been really bad for us.

They did make recomendations for safe and proper storage of confiscated firearms, a time frame to have them returned and that they be returned in the same condition that they were taken.

So teachers have to get permits and buy the guns and also teach your children.

Why should'nt the public pay to protect children at school?

99.9% of police have never been in, nor trained for that kind of scenario, and over 80% of police never have to take their weapon out of their holster their entire career.

Sooooo what benefit does a retired or prior cop bring to the table?

You're splitting hairs now

That is their job and they have schooling that at least tries to teach them what to do when faced with an armed person. They deal with that daiy regardless of the scenario

Teachers are there to teach. Let each do their main jobs

No, cops and former cops aren't trained for an armed invader coming through the door of a school with guns blazing. In fact most of their training centers around after the fact crime scenes, and finding those responsible.

Better trained for facing down an armed intruder intent on mass casualties in a school, I'd place my money on somebody that had actually been in those situations. How many cops do you know have been in a running gunfight any time in their law enforcement career?

Army or Marine Infantry, Rangers, SF..... NOT a cop, unless you just intend to put lipstick on a pig, and not really protect the kids.
