Public Sides With NRA on School Safety

Quote:
Scott Rasmussen finds that most Americans, and especially most parents of school-age children, view the idea of armed guards in schools positively:
Fifty-four percent (54%) of American adults would feel safer if their child’s school had an armed security guard. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 26% would feel safer if their child attended a school where no adults were allowed to have guns. Another 20% are undecided.

Among parents of school-aged children, support for armed guards is even higher. Sixty-two percent (62%) of such parents would feel safer with an armed security guard at the school, while 22% would feel safer if their child attended a gun-free school.

So much for liberal outrage.

What is the difference between parents of school aged children and parents with a child in school?

Do they not send them to school?

Home school. Parents should have the right to carry a gun while home schooling.

actually, they do have the right to carry a gun, its just being denied by our socialist government.

Yes, it would be a wonderful world if criminals obeyed the law, wouldn't it? If it were up to me, I'd take every single one of those 22%, strip them of their rights, and lock them up in a home for the extremely mentally incapacitated.

I'm not a knee-jerker so I don't really get the point of having freaking armed guards in our elementary schools. The idea of that is just Stalinesque. There were four school shootings this year out of about 99,000 public schools in the US. What is that, .04%?

Why are we demanding a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist? Or, better yet, why don't we lock our rabid humans up or euthanize them instead of the good old catch and release?

But no...I guess it's just easier to post a National Guardsman in every single school in America.

Forget paying for armed guards. Let teachers who want to apply for a carry permit. No cost to the public. Problem solved.

I'm against that

Just wait till some spooled teacher gets pissed and pulls it on a kid, or some whacky kid is able to get hold of the teacher's weapon. Huge liability there too

I say if we're going to have guards, then they should be professionals. Many middle and high schools across the country already have some kind of police presence
