I can’t stress this enough – and we conservatives need to get it in our heads – when liberals do things, regardless of what it looks like, the language they use, or whom they disparage, they are doing it for the greater good. It’s acceptable to belittle the ‘enemy’ as long as you’re doing it for the greater good.

The problem with that rationale is that, historically, the human race has justified unspeakable atrocity all for the sake of the greater good. It is impossible to claim the moral high ground without actually practicing the morality required to have it. You don't invoke moral authority - and then prove by your actions that you have none.

I have never read a biography or a history of tyrants or despots who did NOT think their actions were morally justifiable.

"I want you to know that everything I did, I did for my country" Pol Pot

"My mission is to lead the country out of a bad situation of corruption, depression and slavery. After I rid the country of these vices, I will then organize and supervise a general election of a genuinely democratic civilian government." Idi Amin Dada

"Violent measures are always dangerous, but, when necessary, may then be looked on as wise. " Francois Duvalier

" I have done everything to create a decent and rich life for the people in the country, like in no other country in the world." Nicolae Ceausescu
