See the TIME story for a clue.

That's what you're missing in all of this: the groundpounders might be young, but their commanding officers and NCOs are not a bunch of kids. And PS, they poll conservative/Republican.

Anything else?
And these things don't just happen on a whim. The president wouldn't just come out and place an order to go house to house killing dissenters. He would have to convince a lot of people at very high levels to cooperate. The president would have to find supporters; commanders and leaders in the ranks willing to cooperate. Those commanders would have to quietly go around to the troops and find supporters. Once the president knew he had the numbers, then he would go into action.

I can tell you very little support would be found in our current military. That’s why, in this country, a separate military force would have to be organized. And I don’t think folks paid attention to what’s been happening. Obama spoke of a civilian national security force. It wasn’t so much the idea of this ‘force’, it was the wording that I find troubling:

Obama Civilian Security - YouTube
Quote:
“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”
The day I heard Obama say this I started asking all sorts of questions.

What are these ‘security objectives’?
Who would this force be made up of?
Is it possible some our current/former military could be recruited and obtain military arms and technology for this purpose?
Where does the money come from?
How does this pan out with the constitution?
Why is our current military not enough?

There are reports of unaccounted stimulus money. This just one example:

Video - Opinion Journal: Missing Stimulus Money - WSJ.com

I know this sounds like whacko-creepy-conspiracy-theory nonsense but, in the back of my mind I am asking: Are there civilians (or military) being armed in order to stand up some counter-military force? No, I can’t prove this, but Obama doesn’t just say something in a vacuum. He mentioned this ‘security force’ for a reason. And no one is asking anything about it.

That's great... devoid of a solid point, just call your opponent ‘unintelligent’.

It doesn’t matter if background checks hurt anyone (which I disagree about your assertion). What matters is that these laws, that are aimed at solving crime (which really don’t), limit our rights. That is not the purpose of our laws. Laws are supposed to punish those that aim to inflict harm on others. What these gun control laws do is create criminals out of, otherwise, law respecting people; while doing nothing to prevent crime.

Why is it so hard to understand that rights do not demand that we prove our worthiness to exercise those rights? When we have to get permission to exercise our rights, that most definitely hurts everyone.

I'm guessing that's an admission that you haven't actually read it.

S'ok. It's huge and most people haven't read it.

I disagree. There are two purposes - one is for the people to come to the aid of their country. The movie Red Dawn is an example. The other is to prevent tyranny from the government. That doesn't mean we have to be better armed than our military, it means that we have to be well enough armed that it deters the government from overstepping.

Waco for example. BATF learned the hard way that sometimes acting like jack booted thugs isn't worth it. They had way more firepower than the Davidians, but they were faced with an inferior force that was still strong enough to stop the initial asault.

We need to be well enough armed to prevent the government from thinking that they will be able to walk over us. The cost will be too high. If you take 100 agents and tell them to clear 100 houses and they know that on average they will lose one agent per house, even an ATF agent can do that math. That's the power of the 2nd.

And of course, that power is the only thing that allows us to have any of the other rights. That knowledge that they can't step on free speech or any other right too much without things getting out of hand.

That's also why they want to take these baby steps. If they take away mean looking guns with plastic on them and 30 round mags, someone will use the same weapon with a wooden stock and a 10 round mag. So they'll ban all semi auto rifles next and lower pistol mags to 5 "to prevent these senseless tragedies." And so on.

Next thing you know they'll have weakened us so much that we will have no capability to resist anything they want to do.

Except for the fact that we don't know where those guns really ended up.

another way is by brain washing the weak minded children in school.
Those that are strong can reject the lies, they become republican or third party
those that are mentally damaged absorb the lies, and they become democrats.
just look at the number of mentally damaged we have running around in the country right now.. based on the election.
