Too Big To Fail explained...

If you want to see where Too Big To Fail is taking us, just watch Idiocracy.

Brawndo. It's got Electrolytes!

Once you have everyone invested in your success, you can do anything. Including water crops with sports drinks.

Did you just see it for the first time this weekend? (I know one of the cable channels aired it).

Aside from how silly it is - and that it's written by Mike Judge of King of the Hill and Beavis and Butthead fame - the Brawndo stuff is the most memorable part of the film, because of the repeated circular logic they use.

What ARE electrolytes? It's what they use to make Brawndo.
But why do they use it? Because Brawndo's got electrolytes.

No. Been a fan for years. It was on again this week and it's one of those movies that every time I watch it, I get even more out of it. For being so absurd, it is very complex in terms of the details and layers of stuff in it.
That and a buddy of mine watched it for the first time so, it came up in conversation.

Brawndo is Goldman Sachs. Or JP Morgan. Or Citi. They'll just buy the EPA.

What Obama has done with the stock market, making sure, if nothing else, stocks rebounded, is srtaight out of Idiocracy;

Stocks are great!

Yeah, but, crops (the economy, wars, healthcare, mortages, debt, entitlements) are all crap and getting worse.

But my 401k is back to where it was!

Yeah, but, everything it is built on is rotten!

Stocks are great!

Do you not worry that the farce of government buying it's own debt to manipulate the numbers to get you to buy stocks is simply creating an artifical reality that stands on rot that must collapse of it's own weight because it is NOT real????

Stocks are great!

We should ban all automatic weapons.

Uhhh - - they ARE banned. Since the Depression. And crooks still use 'em.

No one should have an assault rifle - they're too dangerous.

How? More people are killed with baseball bats - or fists - than assault rifles.

I don't care - no one should have them.

And so on.

Anh, that's a little different. At the end of the day, there is an argument to be made that no one 'needs' 30 round mags and assault 'style' guns. I mean, it misses the point because they are such a small part of the problem but, there is at least a speck of rational thought there. There is something demonstrably 'bad' about them. I am more dangerous in a crowded place with a semi auto AK and a bunch of 30 round mags than I would be with a bolt action deer rifle.

Brawndo having electrolytes has nothing demonstrably good about it in context of growing crops. It is THE central problem.

In any event, it's really tough to watch the movie and not think of Obama and Bush.

Really? I thought more it's hard to watch and not think about the American people that growingly look towards the government to fix things that we - THE PEOPLE - should be fixing on our own.

Have you actually watched the movie???

Government provides nothing. Corporations are everything. Idiocracy is the inevitable result of the incredible excess of corporations going from just running things behind the scenes to simply buying it outright all while letting us keep our illusion of government power.

This is THE key issue with what the GOP has so wrong with Too Big To Fail. This is at core of why I got so miffed with the TEA party when they refused to pick up the ball when OWS tee'd it up for them. "Here is THE problem! Corporate ownership of government!"

To which the Tea party said "Silly kids. Wall Street's got electrolytes! Don't you people know anything?"

I'm almost as dangerous taking a big truck through a crowd and intentionally running over people - or breaking into a daycare with a baseball bat. Or as the case may be, going into an elementary school and shooting children.

An arsonist could cause as much mayhem with gasoline.

There's something seriously sick about a society when these things actually CAN happen rather than reside only in the mind of a crazed lunatic.

I guess my thought is similar to that of the guy in another thread who can't get the medication he needs, because some nitwit somewhere abused it. So, for his own "safety", he can't get what he needs. There are millions - millions - of law-abiding gun owners who HAVE these dangerous weapons, and they AREN'T hurting anyone. If the weapons alone were the problem, we'd have Armageddon already.
