Like I said, the homeowner (voters, campaign contributers) didn't care or didn't want to pay the price and only cared about having Jesus in schools, saying abortion was bad, gays are bad etc. Running a good business (paying bills, keeping deficit in check, etc) isn't something anyone cares about until it directly has an adverse and substantial effect on them.
