Food Stamps for DOGS

Scooby SNAPs: New York organization offers ‘Pet Food Stamps’

The number of people in America on Food Stamps remains at an all-time high, and now a new program is allowing Fido, Garfield and their peers to get in on the goods.

While the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federal program administered by the states, Pet Food Stamps is a New York-based nonprofit that helps pet owners who can’t afford to support their animal friends.

“The Pet Food Stamps program … has been created to fill the void in the United States Food Stamp program which excludes the purchase of pet food and pet supplies. In these rough economic times, many pet owners are forced to abandon their beloved pet to the ASPCA, North Shore Animal League or other animal shelters due to the inability to pay for their basic food supply and care,” the organization’s website explains.

KRQE-TV13 in Albuquerque, N.M. reports that founder Marc Okon launched the organization two weeks ago, already attracting more than 12,000 requests for assistance.
Really ?

because the vet bills for that would get expensive.... and then we will have welfare for animals as well...

And there are organizations to help the homless, just as there are organizations for pets.

I'm not paying for these doogy food stamps, nor is my tax money, so what is the problem?

Im not seeing an issue here either.
besides, I would rather fund the food for a dog than fund the food for Carisha the crack ho and her brood of spawn.

our local food pantry in northern calvert now provides for dog and cat food. some people are just in a temporary slump, and their only source of happiness is the companion of a pet.

i'm all for it as long as its not tax payer funded. The lazy sloths that suck up and abuse the welfare system are mostly selfish pigs anyways and don't have pets. they just have a sh*tload of kids.

While, honestly I didn't read any of the report....

But I love the idea, I keep trying to get my dog a job, but all she does is lay around and demand I buy her more food and treats.

Lazy ass dog.

Yeah no, mine is just plain lazy. No good laying around sleeping all day, forcing me to do everything for her and buy her everything.

Yeah I am convinced she qualifies for doggy stamps
