Don't Criticize the Commander in Chief

Army Spokesman Reminds Employees and Civilians Not to Criticize Commander in Chief | The Weekly Standard

Excerpt:
Stephen D. Abney, the chief public affairs official for the Army’s Joint Munitions Command, recently sent a message to all 6,000 employees he speaks for: Don’t criticize President Barack Obama or any political party to members of the press. The message was received by civilian contractors as well.

Yup. Ask MacArthur and McChrystal to name two.

I will talk bad about anybody I want as long as I don't represent any company or do it on company time.

Which has been the position of all previous administrations. But then, few of them were as thin-skinned as this one is.

I guess I always understood that if you serve in the military - you don't badmouth your commanders - privately, or among friends, or publicly. Since the President is the commander-in-chief - he counts, too.

If you do NOT serve in the military, you're free to mouth off as much as you like.

You could bad mouth all you wanted privately, publicly it has never been acceptable.

I believe it is actually illegal for officers to be openly critical of the POTUS

It says a lot that a memo like this would even have to be sent.
