He's part of the problem, not the solution.

He's going nowhere, except to sell books. In 2008, he'll have been 8 years out of public office, and he doesn't have the greatest reputation. I actually LIKE him, although not as a Presidential candidate. But I know he is to Democrats what Hillary is to Republicans - a lightning rod of revulsion.

No...

...I could not disagree more.

No one single person is more responsible for GOP ascendency in the House than Newt.

GOP majority in the House is the single most important piece of the political pie. The House holds the purse strings. The purse strings are the life blood of politics.

We've been missing Newt for some time as his character assassination was rather complete. Certainly, he helped make himself look bad but no one bore more of the brunt of the Carville/Clinton personal attack machine than Newt.

He was the enemy that resonated with the Democratic base and the way he was attacked is the blueprint of how W is attacked today; using threatening, grandiose, apocolyptic visions if he gets his way.

The viciousness in which W is treated allows Newt to re-appear because by being so absurdly over the top now and wrong about W, Democratic criticisms of Newt will be revealed for what they were; empty, chicken little phycosis.

He and Dick Armey are the braintrust of modern conservatism. This country can use them both.

What's wrong with Newt? Supposedly he's the Antichrist to Democrats but I have yet to hear one of them explain why. Same thing with Pat Buchanan - what did he do that was so bad?

The only reason, that I can see, for Democrats to hate Newtie so bad is because he exposed their boy, Willie Jeff, for what he was - a do-nothing, lying scumbag who had zero interest in the American public and 100% interest in his own weenie.

Some lib come on here and pick apart the Contract With America. Tell me what's in there that you disagree with.

As long as there are Newts, Pelosi's, Delay's, Kennedy's and the rest that put politics ahead of progress, the country will just take longer to solve the problems.

What did Newt do to be put in that category? Why do you feel he puts politics ahead of progress?

Some think that the attack dog is what we (Republicans) need and that would be fine if the ones that were attacked were the pains in the azz's of progress like Byrd, Kennedy, Pelosi but it seemed to me that he just wanted to bite someone and compromise was not considered. I think the Dems have many more narrow minds out there than the Repub's but we can do better than Newt. McCain

McCain? You must be joking. All he's missing is the D next to his name.
