Bill Clinton - The Clinton Global Initiative

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...101825_pf.html

It looks like the "Man From Hope", who failed to bring hope to just about everyone, is looking at making a comeback. First by hosting a "summit", and second by trying to cheese his way into being head of the UN. I can't remember any foreign policy initiatives of Clinton's that were successful, so I gotta wonder what makes the dweebs at the Washington Post think he's the man to be President of the World???

The WashPost people like it when our President gives terrorists money instead of kicking their butts. They liked it when we turned a blind eye to the corruption in the UN so that France and Germany would like us. They thought it was fabulous that our President would give our hard earned tax dollars to some third-world craphole so their dictator could spend it on palaces and dancing girls.

It stands to reason they would love to have Bill Clinton running the show.

Please, PLEASE compare the first World Trade Center attack, the Embassy bombings, the Kohbar Towers and the USS Cole respones to that of Ronald Reagans engagement in the Middle East.

Please!

Not exactly. Reagan built up Iraq because he wanted them to help us against our common enemy, Iran. Hindsight is always 20-20. With Clinton, there was never any suggestion of reciprocity, just "here, have some dough" because he wanted them to "like" us. Obviously that didn't work out so well, either.

I think that what the Washington Post, and Liberals in general, like is when the US adopted the policy if equivalent response, whereby the US would only hit our enemies as hard as they hit us. This was meant to show the world that the US was not a bully and that we wouldn't go killing a lot of civilians. Instead it just allowed the terrorists to tell their followers that the US must be afraid of them as they weren't blasting away at them. We made ourselves look weak, and we payed the price.

Personally, I like the policy of John Travolta's character in the movie Swordfish:

Quote:
Stanley: "War? Who are we at war with?"
Gabriel: "Anyone who impinges on America's freedom. Terrorist states, Stanley. Someone must bring their war to them. They bomb a church, we bomb 10. They hijack a plane, we take out an airport. They execute American tourist, we tactically nuke an entire city. Our job is to make terrorism so horrific that is becomes unthinkable to attack Americans."

That was Ronald Reagan's approach with Libya: Kill a US servicemen, I blow up your airfields. Blow up a disco, I blow up a big chucnk of your capital, and your house, and take out one of your kids. Once the cost of playing became too high, Quadafi folded.

I wasn't. I was merely pointing out that ALL presidents, democrat, republican, bad, or good give money to "crap hole" third world nations. It's what we do. Part of the burden of being a wealthy and infuential nation.
