I occasionally try to listen to Air America but what a waste of time. Their format stays the same week after week....WMD's, WMD's. Al Franken's speaking ability makes George sound eloquent. Randi Rhoads needs a huge dose of Ritalin to bring herself back to reality. All the hosts intersperse their hate speeches with long periods of silence and stuttering. It's bad, bad programming. Jerry Springer fits right in with the rest of them, maybe Roseanne next?

I think it's because not that many people agree with their message. I think a majority of Democrats are moderates and are Dems because their parents were Dems, or because of union membership, or because of fears over social security. In short they are mostly one issue voters who don't have much in common with their party anymore, but don't want to change their affiliation.

These folks will declare themselves as Democrats, and support Democrat candidates because they can't bring themselves to vote Republican, but they aren't going to listen to a lot of BS from guys like Franken because they don't believe in what he says.

I believe these "entertainer democrats" even though their ratings are low do impact the voters and party affiliations.

The last 2 elections have been squeakers. Granted W has not put the best foot forward in marketing but compared to Gore and Kerry it should not have even been close. How can this be? How did the republicans take the house and senate and more than half the governorships and yet a presidential election is decided by a few thousand?

I honestly believe that the "entertainer democrats" are causing this. There is a constant drum beat Republicans bad....Republicans bad....Republicans bad....Republicans bad....Republicans evil....Republicans evil....Republicans evil....Republicans hate you....Republicans hate you....Republicans hate you....Republicans are corrupt....Republicans are corrupt....Republicans are corrupt....

It comes everyday in the media. Pick a day and a story on yahoo news, NBC, ABC, CNN and while they slant the story left, the headlines, which many only read, are HUGELY distorted and outright lies. To the news media add; Franken, Maher, The West Wing, Commander-in-Chief, American President, Springsteen, Sarandon, Springer, Moore, Emenem, Puff daddy, and the dozens of others who drone on and on how evil, corrupt, incompetent, stupid, racist, untrustworthy Bush and the Republicans are. Network TV is vilifying then in fiction; Look at Alan Alda's character on The West Wing, it is the same republican portrayal as Donald Sutherland on Commander in Chief, the epitome of evil. Music stars are vilifying them in song, Newspapers are vilifying them in print, news anchors are vilifying them every night with slanted news, movie makers are vilifying them in movies.

Aside from talk radio I can’t say that I know of 1 single solitary outlet where republicans get a fair shake.

Now you have to figure that 2/3 of the country really don’t care, are not affiliated with a party and are single issue or no real issue voters. The remaining 1/3 are partisan or middle of the road moderates. I honestly believe absent media influence and histrionics well over half are more than likely republican or lean republican or identifying themselves as conservatives.

Where do the rest come from to make these races so close? They come from the corps of media influenced zombies who see Wolf Blitzer bagging on republicans every night, then they watch The West Wing and see prominent republican Alan Alda tell a man he will appoint pro-life judges, then 15 minutes later tell his aide “I lied” with a smug evil grin. Martin Sheen the prominent democrat then makes a gutsy honorable decision and shows great class. After that they turn on the radio and hear an anti Bush/Anti-republican song, read a biased story on yahoo news. After work they go to the store to buy a Hallmark card for their nephews birthday and see a funny haha card with Bush’s pic holding up 3 fingers that says “I have 3 words for you” he opens it and it says “thank you” proving Bush is dumber than a box of hammers.

With the constant onslaught against them I am amazed that people have not stormed capital hill with pitchforks and torches.

I turn on the TV from time to time and flip between CNN and Fox News... Usually I just press my google news button at the top of my browser and my CNN.com button... Google news gives me diversity... I used to listen to air america, but as stated before its the Same Sh.. Different Day... :|

Look at what Limbaughs audience is; Conservatives who are ditto heads and think he's entertaining, middle of the roaders who agree sometimes, others not but think he is entertaining, people on the left who listen riding around screaming venom and spewing hate, which they find entertaining.

It's a pretty big group, listening for one reason; he is entertaining.

Now, Scare America. Conservatives make up about 40% of the population and they are pretty much a group that is vanilla in that they are reasonably close on how they see the world and live life and what they find interesting.

Liberals are all over the place:

Gay interests.
Teachers Union interests (Educational Indoctrinational Complex).
Environmentalists.
Minorities
Civil Righter's
NOW
NAACP
Labor Unions.
Elitists

These people all have tin ears, just like Conservatives; they like to hear about their things. These just happen to be a bunch of small groups so, Al can't appeal to but so many at any one time. They all nod to each other as they are all the only ones who 'get it' but in reality, they're not getting the same thing. NAACP does not give a flying #### what Queer nation is interested in and vice versa. Teachers Unions don't want anymore to do with auto workers than just fix my car. US auto workers don't want anything to do with the teachers friggin Volvos.

And, Al, for all his intelligence, is simply not entertaining to very many people. He, like most liberals, is angry, and that only appeals to what YOUR group is angry about, in his case the Elitists.

If Franken could talk about more things that more people could relate to and if he was more entertaining then he'd be a hit, aka Conservative Talk Radio.

Limbaugh and Company are optimistic, good sense of humor, generally good natured and positive.

You can't listen to Franken before long without feeling like we and the whole world are all screwed.

It's bleak stuff.
