You have to wonder what's going through the minds of John Edwards, John Kerry, Howard Dean, Al Gore, etc., right now. You know they're all thinking they could be President, and the support of the left wing would fall behind whoever goes the most anti-war right now. But to take that crown you need to take on the first family of the Democratic party, and if you win you win big... and if you lose you lose big. I wonder what low numbers Hillary needs to reach before these guys decide the risk is worth it.

...look at it this way, one of my favorite theories;

Had the party said 'Clinton is killing us' (which he was; lost house and senate, international laughing stock) and simply said, 'Bill lied, just like Nixon and you can't do that' and walked down the street like Goldwater and Company did and told him he had to resign, then Gore may well have won RE-election in 2000 under the banner of Squeeky Clean Al.

THAT is the real kick in the shins; they did all this to themselves.

How about those that are itching for the USA to have a woman President of which many might not normally vote and won't vote if she is allowing her husband to continually humiliate her.

We had less then 60% of eligible voters turn out last election. A viable female candidate might just motivate that large and usually silent minority. Dumping Bill could make Hillary viable to many.

I am too lazy to search for it but that was my theory long ago. Clinton resigns, Gore takes office and serves the remainder of the term, President Gore then uses "incumbant leverage" to win in 2000. Bill wouldn't take one for the party though.

...with Bill. Nixon wasn't taking one for the party either. He got TOLD.

...forever. Dumping Bill now may turn off some of her supporters who admired her for sticking it out through the hardest of times. I don't admire someone who carries a refrigerator up a hill, scratching and clawing the whole way, only to set it aside once they've started down the other, easier, side.

For every Yin, a Yang, but yeah, that 40%, wow, the power they pizz away.
