Another reason NOT to listen to Limbaugh

Putting it here since he's a political Commentator.

Can you say Sellout?

Quote:
Now, I mentioned to you at the conclusion of the previous hour that people having been asking me how I feel all night long. I got, “Boy, Rush, I wouldn’t want to be you tomorrow! Boy, I wouldn’t want to have to do your show! Oh-ho. I’m so glad I’m not you.” Well, folks, I love being me. (I can’t be anybody else, so I’m stuck with it.) The way I feel is this: I feel liberated, and I’m going to tell you as plainly as I can why. I no longer am going to have to carry the water for people who I don’t think deserve having their water carried. Now, you might say, “Well, why have you been doing it?” Because the stakes are high! Even though the Republican Party let us down, to me they represent a far better future for my beliefs and therefore the country’s than the Democrat Party and liberalism does.
You know what? There are some of us out there who, unlike Limbaugh, are actual conservatives. Unlike Limbaugh, I don’t feel liberated. I feel the GOP has a chance (slim one) to actually be the Conservative Party (we'll see).

So all you Limbaugh fans out there, how does it feel to see just what a pathetic sell-out he is?

I'm not a Limbaugh fan, and I've heard that he's the biggest conservative shill who ever drew breath.

I only listened to him for about an hour or two several years ago.

To me he sounded like a Libertarian, not a conservative.

And everything said in the quote you provided seems to support that he's more libertarian than conservative.

I don't think he's as much of a right-wing conservative as everyone says he is.

I agree, its just he gets lumped in as a Conservative Commentator, and i'm sure Kerad will come on with some examples (probably from the Media) saying he's a Conservative.

Limbaugh may not be a conservative but neither are the Republicans. The GOP is not conservative. The GOP is just a little right of the Democraps and that is why they lost. They forgot the conservative base that put them in office. It is not a Republican base; it is a conservative base. And the conservative base said the Republicans are no better than the Democraps and didn't vote for the most part.

I listened to him the day after the election and he was polishing that turd for all it was worth

But I do believe that the Repubs got ousted for not being conservative enough. I want to look up the numbers and see if there were significantly less Republicans voting this year. That would tell us a lot about what happened.

I disagree. In my opinion Republicans got their clocks cleaned because for the following reasons.

1. They were smug and thought they were bulletproof because they had been in the majority so long, and the Democrats up until a few weeks ago had not put up a threat that was serious. They sat in their offices rolling around in a false sense security thinking they were golden and got stale.

2. The absolutely suck at marketing their numerous successes. Lower taxes, more revenue, GNP growing, low interest rates, highest level of home ownership, low unemployment, beat back soft wood dumping by Canada, steel from Asia, stock market coming out of its funk and going over 12K, Medicare drug program for seniors and a host of other things. Not a single one of those issues were brought up by Republicans or Democrats. The Dems didn’t bring it up because it was the truth and bad for them, the Republicans didn’t because they are epically stupid.

3. If you tell a child they are stupid 5 times a day, every day for 2 years, they will eventually begin to believe they are stupid. If you tell voters Republicans are evil, inept, stupid, Bible beating, criminal, bigots, and a-holes 50 times everyday for 2 year they will begin to believe it.

Pelosi, Dean, Murtha, Kerry, Gore, Reid, Durbin, Schumer, Kennedy and a host of other characters spent the last 2 years drumming endlessly on the voters these issues. Not a single Republican stood up and gave it back, strongly refuted, argued, or defended themselves. Like morons they just sat there and took it. In the absence of a defense the only voice heard was that of the DNC.

4. The Democrats did such a good job making Bush the poison pill he tainted all Republicans. You had O’Malley running ads showing Bush and Erhlich together and calling him Bush’s boy. He was running for governor of a state? WTH does that have to do with the Federal Government. Showing Bush shaking hands with a Republican candidate in a TV ad was the equivalent of showing a video of that candidate screwing a sheep in the barn.

5. The Democrats painted Bush the village idiot and made the entire election about Iraq. Bush woefully underestimated the modern Americans resiliency in a long war that did not directly involve terrorists or Iraqi agents trying to kick down their door or steal their SUV. Americans get mad, then forget it because the new IPOD Nano just came out with a new color. We as a nation are spoiled, self absorbed, and oblivious and have no stomach for mission that cannot be accomplished with 100% efficiency in the same amount of time it takes the Barista to put a froth on our Chia Mocha Latte.

6. Their base is easier to influence than our base. Our base gets mad, worries, cherishes our ability to earn, and enjoy what we earn. Republican base is also fickle and if we do not have a champion to energize us, and we do not, they stay at home isolated and secure in the idea we can take care of ourselves no matter what happens.

The Democratic base is clearly urban, easier to reach, concentrated and their political machine down to the grass roots, local neighborhoods and precincts, can reach out and organize much easier than Republicans. They view Republicans as elitist, big business screw the little downtrodden guy and are much easier to whip into a frenzy to “show those bastards” in great numbers. The Democrats also have the role of “Massa” in which they “take care” of a great deal of their inner city constituency with “programs”. They have also harped for decades that the bad Republicans are going to take your stamps.

7. Republicans did not provide one single solitary thing for voters to vote “for”. Political philosophy is not a motivator. You realize nearly every Republican candidate was chased from town by a pitch fork carrying hoard, YET many conservative policy items passed. Gay marriage bans being the most notable. The country is still conservative but the conservative “store” had nothing in stock to choose from. Since that store was empty, they went shopping elsewhere. The tired old “Voting for a Democrat is the same as inviting a terrorist to lunch at your home” bit is neither believable nor effective.

8. Conservatives were not afraid enough. They didn’t worry about Speaker Pelosi, Chairman Kennedy or Chairman Waxman. Either they didn’t think it was going to happen, didn’t think it could happen or they didn’t care. Voter turnout for Republicans I would guess was sparse. Robo phone calls are not going to get it.

9. There is not a single Republican with Charisma. Aside from Romney and maybe Giuliani there are no firebrand, eloquent, clear thinking Republicans out there talking. The liberal media and they are undoubtedly liberal and anyone who argues to the contrary is totally wrong, never gives Republicans except McCain a fair deal. They are not treated well so they don’t want to go on TV so they don’t.

10. Bush is not stupid, but when he opens his mouth to talk he appears stupid. It makes me cringe. Paris Hilton is popular because she is hot. Dennis Miller is popular because he is eloquent, Sean Connery is popular because he is suave, Bill Gates is popular because he is rich, Bill Mahr is popular because he is funny. Bush does not possess any of these attributes. He is not hot, eloquent, suave rich, or funny. He is almost painful to listen to. The vast majority of Americans will choose a gift wrapped turd because the wrapping is pretty, over a new laptop in a cardboard box.

We are extremely lucky. Bush by all accounts would have lost HUGE in 2004 if the Democrats had put forth a candidate other than the retards they did. I would wager 1/3 of all Bush’s votes were votes against Kerry.

I also think the RNC should be VERY worried because it is evident that a significant number of GOP faithful stayed home or voted for a Democrat. Once the seal is broken and the aversion is gone it is easy to do it again and again.

Good post, Pete

I seriously did not think the Bush-taint was going to work. It never occurred to me that voters would vote against someone based on someone else who had nothing to do with it, just happened to share a party affiliation.
