Ethiopia managed to chase the islamic terrorist rebels out of Somalia the other week. I was impressed, with the help of some US support.

As far as Darfur is concerned, I have no doubt that the US would support a plan of action to go in there and stop the mass killings. Thats also the problem. Everytime the US commits themselves to some sort of small high intensity conflict, its just the US. China never volunteers their troops. France isn't going to take the next rotation of peacekeeping force troops to that region. These countries are quick to criticize US foreign policy as to which wars we fight but when the call to arms comes, they are no where to be seen. It is the US that bails every single country out of their wars and quarrels and will continue to do so, whether its rescuing europe in WWII to rescuing So. Korea in their war.

Maybe theres a lesson to be learned here. How many people will die before the world WANTS the United States to get involved in another countries matters? How many countries will support the US decision to go into Sudan and turn and burn when they realize the problem may go on for the next 10 years?

The price of gasoline goes up 1 cent every time terrorists attack an oil asset in africa so that the oil companies may hire more security.

Which it certainly will, if not longer. Does anyone honestly think the UN can tell the Sudanese government to stop killing people, and they'll just say, "Oh. Okay. Sorry about that."?

So the UN goes in and...what? Removes the government?

Yeah right.

And even if, by some miracle, the UN authorized some forcible action, look at Iraq - it's going to be years before those idiots are ready to run their own country, and they're a hell of a lot more civilized and modern that the Sudanese.
