Keith Olbermann just asked a guest who apparently work(ed) for Air America;

"How do Rush Limbaugh and Micheal Savage get away with WORSE than what Don Imus said?"

His quest basically said the next time Limbaugh slips up, which won't be long, he's next.

Our world is turning into a mad house. Can anyone name one thing Rush has said that is remotely equivalent to 'nappy headed ho's'? I've been listening to him for almost 20 years and I can't.

Going back in world history, I am thinking of "Blasephemy". How many people were killed, excomunciated, or suffered torture for what they said.

When our founding fathers gave us "Freedom of Speech" they were concerned about "Blasephemy" or similar sins.

I think we have lost this idea and have gone back to the 1500"s

I know the Imus deal has several threads but I read the article about CBS axing him and several things lept out at me regarding the lynch mob mentality.

"That consideration has weighed most heavily on our minds as we made our decision."

Yet CBS records will sign a rapper who says worse and who is not trying to crack a joke. Where is the moral courage there Leslie?

He was fired in the middle of a two-day radio fundraiser for children's charities. CBS announced that Imus' wife, Deirdre, and his longtime newsman, Charles McCord, will host Friday's show.

So they fired him right in the middle of a fund raiser that helps hundreds of kids with terrible diseases. In retrospect Imus will no doubt get more because of supporters and sympathy but still it is classless to do this today, why not tomorrow?

The Rev. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson met with Moonves on Thursday to demand Imus' removal.

Question 1. How many "Reverands" run around looking for blood? What about "forgiveness"? I don't recall either of these 2 hypocritical jackasses EVER dropping into Def Jam and demanding the rappers be fired. I don't recall either of them going on TV and condemning Crystal Gail Mangum the Duke Lacrosse accuser. I don't recall either appologizing for inciting racial hatred in that case, or Twana case. I do remember Jesse Jackson engaging in an adulterous affair and fathering a illegitimate child and he was ALLLLLLL about "forgiveness" then, but now he is not?

Imus has complained bitterly about a lack of support from one black politician, Harold Ford Jr., even though he strongly backed Ford's campaign for Senate in Tennessee last year. Ford, now head of the Democratic Leadership Council, said Thursday he'll leave it to others to decide Imus' future.

Nothing like turning your back on a "pal". Imus, this is what you get when you back a liberal, the party of "tollerance". Looks like Harold Ford serves a higher Massa than friendship.


You know, I don't support racism in any way shape or form but you have to wonder how long "white America" is going to take getting kicked in the nads by there hypocritical a-holes and hand wringing disloyal jerk offs. You want to know how white supremicy groups get followers? You want to know how the klan gets recruits? You want to know how people start tuning out the "equality and civil rights" message? This crap is how.

I hope Imus catches on someplace and lights these people up, from Sharpton, to Jackson and Moonves. Rush needs to look out? You bet you ass he does so does every other conservative/ white commentator because the blood is in the water and they are now emboldened at how easy it was.

...discussed this, I'll just review for the people;

Savage will call Barbara Walters, professional media person, a traitorous, lying whore for her powder puff interview with Hugo Chavez, a decidedly anti US world figure. He would not, out of the blue, call a bunch of college basketball players 'nappy headed ho's'. He does not just insult people for the hell of it, a la Imus, for whom this truly is SOP. He, Savage, attacks people for a reason, for something they've done.

And Limbaugh will say Donovan McNabb is only hyped because he is black. That may be somewhat disparaging to Donovans talent, a professional NFL player and public figure, but it is not even close to what Imus said and who it said it about. Sharpton, a Democrat media darling please remember, alluding to a bunch of college kids at Duke being rapists is far closer to the mark than Limbaugh or Savage.

So, this is further illustrative of the ugly side of liberals; They can't take the heat, publicly, so they boycott Fox and won't even allow DEBATE. They can't take the heat from a Savage or Limbaugh as Air America crashes and burns, but they can sure attack any and every one who has caused them to be so tongue tied with their own agendas and words.

But it's racism that's important, not sexism.

Olbermann's being objective, he wanted Imus gone as well. Seems fair to raise that issue - Savage says far far far worse things than Imus.

...see, that's the larger issue. At the end of the day, you can't cry any tears over Imus. He works a high wire act in a high wire job with no net and, sometimes, people hit the floor. That said, I am wondering what the larger impact will be because Imus has, in fact, hit the floor so spectacularly and then been piled on so heavily. This thing may have long term resonance.

So, for 2008, will there be lingering awareness and impact when it comes to Hollywood, especially rap music? Will vulgar entertainment be an issue? Will Democrats, the party of 'free' this and 'free' have hypocritically put themselves in a position to put up or shut up?

It's one thing for Imus to get suspended for two weeks and do a penance. The rap world can claim artistic license that has SOME limits, just not on them. It is another to give him, Imus, what may amount to a professional death sentence for rather light words compared to the flat out hatred and violence of mainstream rap.

Sponsors have raised the bar as to what they can or cannot justify to their stock holders. This may do some lasting good. Or harm depending on our own personal hypocrisy level.

...Olbermann is a dark, bitter SOB. That boy has issues. Objective? Then you need to go look the word up. His entire speal amounts to his patented WWF stlye eyebrow raising mockery of those he clearly doesn't like. Yet he adds nothing, just a professional rubber necker; "Look at the stupids! Ha! Ha!"
