Women comedians are like that. If they're making wry comments about sexism that people can relate to, that's funny. But when they're just some angry beech on a stage, that's not funny at all.

I hated Kinnison.

Gallagher.

Different strokes. Carlin can get me rolling on the floor, but his political and religious rants turn me off, not because I disagree with them (Penn Gillette f'rinstance kills me, even as anti-religious as he is), but because Carlin loses that funny and wry jenny-say-qua that he has when he's doing other stuff.

Yes. Really. Hate the others you have listed, too.

Penn is genuinely funny and it's all in good fun. He makes ironic social commentary and doesn't stand there foaming at the mouth like a lunatic. I love Chapelle and Ron White - those guys are hysterical

Not amusing to me.

On the other hand, I have to disagree with a lot of yall in saying that you don't appreciated Carlin's religious/political comedy. I find it hilarious and true Dad is the same way as yall and I find it comical because he isn't religious yet gets offended by some of Carlin's religious comedy.

To each his own though.

OH, and I almost forgot this thread. It was comical to me as well (and true...)

Well, to clarify, I don't get offended.

As I said, Penn Gillette is as anti-religious as they come, but when he gets going on the subject (I think he had an episode of BULLSH!T! dedicated to it), it's just as funny as the rest of his stuff, and I don't mind laughing at myself, and I certainly don't get offended. (I do happen to agree with just about all of Gillette's politics).

Carlin, however, is extremely funny when he's talking about slow drivers, or men vs. women, or drunks, or any of that crap... but when he starts in about politics or religion, that edge of funniness kind of dulls, and he instantly becomes just some opinionated old guy mouthing off.

I can get that over at my parents house.
