| Heaven is not our home? Heaven Is Not Our Home | Christianity Today | A Magazine of Evangelical Conviction An interesting article from NT Wright, an Anglican bishop and bible scholar. Let's try to keep any discussion to the topic please. |

| This part of page three caught my attention the most, and points straight to the authors liberal social theology: And the church that is renewed by the message of Jesus' resurrection must be the church that goes to work precisely in that space, time, and matter. The church claims this world in advance as the place of God's kingdom, of Jesus' lordship, and of the Spirit's power. Councils and parliaments can and often do act wisely, though they will always need scrutiny and accountability, because they in turn may become agents of bullying and corruption. Thus the church that takes sacred space seriously (not as a retreat from the world but as a bridgehead into it) will go straight from worshiping in the sanctuary to debating in the council chamber; to discussing matters of town planning, of harmonizing and humanizing beauty in architecture, green spaces, and road traffic schemes; and to environmental work, creative and healthy farming methods, and proper use of resources. If it is true, as I have argued, that the whole world is now God's holy land, we must not rest as long as that land is spoiled and defaced. This is not an extra to the church's mission. It is central. Straight from the church of Algore and the non-rev Wright - social theology.. This author is putting most, if not, all of his emphasis on social issues and human works here on earth, as most denominations of Catholic/Episcopalian, C of E type churches do. We born-again believers are NOT citizens of the world, but citizens of Heaven (John 15: 18 - 16:6). Our place is already seated with God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Our job is to preach the Gospel, live the best we can as good citizens, do what we can to be good stewards of the earth and our responsibilities as employers, employees, co-workers, moms, dads, siblings, etc. Whatever you define Heaven as, it is now and future, for us believers still breathing at this moment. Upon death, Paradise - (in my opinion the upper chamber of Hades, at the bosum of Abraham - the perfect picture of Jesus. The lower chamber, of course reserved for all non-believers), followed by "in the air Heaven with Jesus" after the rapture, then to finally be finished in the New Jerusalem after earth and the heavens have been destroyed. Make sense to you guys?

In Genesis 1:1 it declares that = "In the beginning God create the heaven and the earth." and then in verse 8 it goes on to say = "And God called the firmament Heaven." Link = Genesis 1 So "heaven" simply meant THE HEAVENS as in the sky and outer space and beyond.

| The legend of his own mind, for sure. Are frequent flier points in his universe measured by the mile or parsec of light distance?

| If you guys were really interested in seeking the truth then there is some real important information already in this thread from the 1st posting and from my posting too. You both keep your selves as stupid and uninformed when it is given to you freely right in your own face and eyes. It truly does not hurt me even though I do wish that you guys would grow up.

![]() As I was reading through the article it sure reminded me of the slant toward ecumenical cooperation and combined "good works" in an attempt to make things better in society and in changing the world. There are many denominations attempting to pull together with that in mind. However, the reality is that, according to the Bible, things will get worse in this world before they get better. We are also reminded in the Bible that Jesus was not of this world and those who have placed faith in Christ are also no longer of this world but sojourners - knowing that Christ has prepared a place for us in His Heavenly Kingdom. Amen! Totally Agree!
